While there is nothing wrong with an instant anti-ageing fix like Botox or fillers, the ethos at RE/Skin is more organic.
Finding the root of the issue and treating it on a cellular level is what facialist and skin expert Rebecca Elsdon does best, combining science with a more holistic approach.
At RE/Skin, the team avoids fads or overpriced ‘miracle’ products and helps clients understand why their skin is behaving a certain way.
And with the anti-ageing market flooded with treatments and potions, it can be hard not to feel overwhelmed or impulsively buy a costly quick fix.
So before any treatment plan begins, Rebecca makes sure each client has a proper in-person (if preferred) consultation to talk about their skin concerns and discuss the best – and most effective – way forward.
RE/Skin is based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, and it’s great to see state-of-the-art clinics located not just in London and the south east and from the minute you walk in the door you feel calm and soothed.
The space is airy, light and quiet and feels like an upmarket spa – and there is absolutely no rush.
I spent nearly an hour with Rebecca and left feeling listened to and excited for my skin makeover.
I felt my skin really needed some TLC and a combination of lack of sleep, parenting a toddler, not drinking enough water and years of sunbathing and partying meant I just felt colourless, old and lacklustre.
After discussing my diet, sleep hygiene, current skin care regime and having a face scan, Rebecca’s plan moving forward was to “restore the skin’s natural barrier lipids and rebuild a good barrier function”.
Next steps
She basically wanted to get my skin fighting fit again before a more “targeted rejuvenation plan” was put in place. Get it back to basics – my under eye area was particularly dehydrated, apparently.
I was to start a course of Byonik laser treatment to repair and hydrate the skin and get it “acting younger” by stimulating collagen and elastin production.
A course of six sessions was recommended to really get the benefit – all in quite quick succession because Rebecca doesn’t mess about – before thinking abut the next steps.
To complement the treatment Rebecca also prescribed a Dermaviduals cleanser and moisturiser, Byonik View eye cream and an SPF 50 mousse.
