Weekends are precious aren’t they. Time for family, friends, relaxation and treating yourself. To help, Theo Randall at the Intercontinental Park Lane has launched a weekend lunch with a specially created sharing menu designed for families and friends to spend more quality time together.
Arrive early and hungry as lunch features a selection of authentic Italian classics including a seasonal carvery and live pasta making station. To make the experience even more fun, lunch also includes 90 minutes of unlimited prosecco, Negroni and Aperol spritz.
To start, we sampled a selection of Italian salads, cured meats, cheeses and Italian breads from the buffet. Imagine a sea of vibrant colours and flavours. Our favourite was a burrata – so fresh, creamy and worked so well with proper Italian focaccia. Grab some plates and share so you can taste a bit of everything and don’t miss the smoked salmon and smoked eel.
Next up, a plate of al dente ravioli arrives stuffed with sweet pumpkin in a delicate butter and sage sauce and topped with parmesan. The pasta and all the menus here change with the seasons and are inspired by Theo’s regular trips to Italy. After this, we were invited to the carvery to sample some porchetta – slow cooked pork with creamy potatoes and rich Italian gravy. Make sure you try a piece with some satisfyingly crunchy crackling.
Served at the table, our secondi sharing plates then arrive. You can choose from a range of dishes at the start of lunch and we tried a couple. A baked cheese soufflé with spinach was so creamy and laden with parmesan. A lighter sharing dish we also enjoyed was a roasted lamb rump that was so tender and full of flavour.
After a short break, it was time for a dessert platter. Our pick was a gluten free light as a feather chocolate cake and Amalfi lemon tart. And yes we did go up to grab more lemon tart from the dessert buffet too! We also spotted a pastry Chef making Italian crepes to order so we shared one with lashings of chocolate sauce.
Overall, I can see why in Italy a weekend lunch is more than just a meal. It’s a time for gathering loved ones around a table with no distractions – just fantastic food and hospitality in a relaxed setting at Theo Randall. Make sure you arrive hungry as this is a generous feast with all the trimmings.
Theo’s weekend lunch is available every Saturday and Sunday from 12 30pm till 3 30pm for £49 per person and includes 90 minutes of unlimited prosecco, Negroni and Aperol spritz. To book, visit www.theorandall.com
