The Zetter Townhouse, Marylebone has a new exciting partnership with its new artist-in-residence, Jerromme ‘Red Romes’ Henry. An established graffiti artist, designer and unit from South-West London, Red Romes has drawn inspiration from The Zetter Townhouse, Marylebone and created an abstract cocktail art collection that is currently on display at Seymour’s Parlour, the hotel’s gorgeous cocktail lounge.
The Drinks
What sets Zetter Hotels apart from the rest is the team’s dedication to creating ground breaking and unique cocktails, that prioritise taste above all else. All cocktails are designed within ‘The Lab’, a unique back of house space where creativity thrives and the delicious concoctions are invented. Bar Manager Gregorio Soriente and the team have created a really special experience that surprises and delights with every sip.
The Zetter Townhouse, Marylebone’s cocktail menu features Z to A Cocktails. Not only does this concept pay homage to Zetter Hotels, but contextualises the theory of asymmetry in its purest form. It is the reverse of conventionality, both in flavours and spirits. Z to A is constructed of 12 cocktails created with ingredients and processes that aren’t what you expect. This has a powerful impact on all your senses beyond taste palate and into a full sensory experience.
Our favourite was Cocktail No6, a twist on a Cosmopolitan with Herradura tequila, lime, cranberry cordial, H.theoria Electric Velvet liqueur and Everleaf Mountain. So balanced and detailed. We wish all Cosmopolitans were made with tequila! For something really different, Cocktail No 2 reverses a Bellini, traditionally quite boring, with something special. Here, you can expect Johnnie Walker Black Label, artichoke and Bianco di Ampeleia, gently carbonated. Slightly savoury, slightly sweet and a gorgeous hit of artichoke that adds an earthy yet delicate herbaceousness to the cocktail.
The art
Jerromme ‘Red Romes’ Henry was commissioned to not only construct the beautiful vision of the hotel’s new cocktail menu, but to capture the essence of each drink through his artwork. Red Romes has been collaborating so closely with Gregorio Soriente and the bar team and you can tell this is a true labour of love that involved late night meetings and countless emails about the tiny details of glass stems. The collection features an abstract interpretation of six cocktails ranging from Cocktail N.1: ‘Our Twist on a Paloma’ through to Cocktail N.6: ‘Our Twist on a Cosmopolitan’. Each piece of art is 1/1 so they are truly one off exclusive pieces.
Red Romes has a background in the Arts from an early age it was no surprise that he proceeded to study Art alongside Design which has grown his knowledge and skills in aspects including the Fine Arts. Being well travelled at such a very young age has not only inspired his love for street art and passion for Architecture, but has also given him the ability to implement such a diverse style to his work. Producing most work from his self built studio, expressing his character, mood and extremely creative mindset that can only be described as an “outside the box” approach throughout his works.
General Manager Eljesa Saciri at Zetter Townhouse Marylebone masterminded the concept and said - ‘’We are really excited to be hosting our first ever artist-in-residence. The Zetter Townhouse, Marylebone is a place where creativity and inspiration thrives and so it seemed a natural partnership for the hotel. With the use of vivid colours and bold illustrations, Red Romes has really brought the essence of Zetter to life and we cannot wait for our guests to see the beautiful collection.‘’
When you walk past and see a huge arch framing the Townhouse front door decorated abundantly with cherry blossom, there is a reason for this, a new cherry blossom-themed afternoon tea experience throughout Spring. This offering will feature aesthetically pleasing delicacies some of which be made with cherry blossom extract and will be served with a taster of an accompanying cocktail, in collaboration with Everleaf.
The silent auction is now live and the cocktail menu can be viewed here.
