Staying at Hyatt Regency Hotel
Nestled in the heart of the bustling city centre, the silhouette and modern design of The Hyatt Regency Birmingham, commands attention from its urban skyline.
Entering the lobby, the ambiance inside the hotel is contemporary and warm. Each room and suite houses floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing you to connect with the vibrant energy of Birmingham’s city skyline.
With a triumvirate of dining experiences, there are different dining options to choose from. Aria, the hotel’s signature restaurant stands at the forefront, with an artistry menu of fresh seasonal cuisine. For those seeking a British pub experience, The Gentleman & Scholar Pub and Terrace is a warm and inviting space, enveloped by the ambiance of a crackling fireplace. The culinary journey continues with the Atrium Lobby, a contemporary haven for sophisticated cocktails and light bites. The Atrium Lobby is the perfect setting for those looking to add a touch of glamour to their evenings or enjoy a leisurely moment in a chic urban space.
Entering my accommodation on floor 28, the highest floor of the hotel, I was immediately drawn to the picturesque canal views that greeted me from the floor-to-ceiling windows. The 28 sq. m space offers comfort and functionality, boasting two twin beds designed for a restful night’s sleep. A generously sized work desk stood ready to accommodate my tasks, while a modern Bluetooth speaker with wireless charging capabilities added a touch of convenience to the room. Tucked away in a corner, a cosy chair beckoned, offering a tranquil spot to unwind and take in the city’s charm. From this vantage point, the allure of Birmingham’s canals unfolded before me, promising a stay filled with urban excitement.
The Amala Spa
The Amala spa facilities inside the hotel provide an intimate setting; with Hammam treatment rooms, a 52 sq. ft indoor heated pool, sauna, steam room, whirlpool and cold-water plunge pool. The Amala spa adds a layer of therapeutic indulgence, creating a holistic environment for unwinding and rejuvenating.
I experienced the ultimate back, neck, and shoulder massage at Amala Spa. From the moment I settled onto the massage table, I could feel the skilled hands of the therapist working their magic. The treatment began by addressing the knots and tightness in my back, neck, and shoulders, melting away the stress accumulated from daily life. What sets this massage apart is its holistic approach. In addition to focusing on the key areas of tension, the experience includes a soothing scalp massage, a revitalising lower leg treatment, and a pampering foot massage. The combination of targeted pressure and gentle strokes created a harmonious balance, leaving me feeling rejuvenated and utterly relaxed by the end of the treatment.
Aria Restaurant
Nestled under the expansive glass atrium, the gastronomic journey at Aria spans from breakfast, lunch, dinner, afternoon tea, and the quintessential Sunday brunch.
Hosting flavours of the West Midlands, you can expect a British-inspired menu at Aria. The best in PGI status beef, a true testament to the region’s agricultural prowess. Finest British cheeses carefully curated by local cheese merchants, ensuring a delightful exploration of artisanal flavours.
With each dish complemented by an extensive wine list, Aria will take you on a global vineyard tour. Whether you prefer a robust red, a crisp white, or a sparkling selection, the wines here are handpicked to elevate your dining experience. For those seeking something beyond the grape, the drinks menu extends to handcrafted cocktails and a selection of beers that promise to tantalise the taste buds.
Delving into Deliciousness
As a culinary adventurer with an insatiable appetite, I decided to start my journey with the revered Chowder. Set before me was a bowl holding the artful composition of a Bruniose of mixed vegetables. Finely diced carrots, celery, and onions meticulously arranged in a vibrant mosaic. Tender morsels of fish, briny clams and plump prawns adorned the chowder with a wealth of textures and tastes.
For my main dish, I opted for the Dry Aged Casterbridge Beef Fillet. Aged to perfection, the beef fillet embodied a depth of flavour that only time and care can impart. Its rich marbling promised a succulence that elevated the dining experience to a level of exquisite indulgence. As my fork navigated through the dish, I discovered a garden of Baby Vegetables, a velvety Celeriac Puree and Confit Potatoes meticulously prepared to golden perfection.
To finish, arrived a beautifully presented Board of West Country Cheese’s, Sourdough Crispbread, and Seasonal Chutney. A curated collection of cheeses adorned the board, each with its own distinct personality and flavour profile. From the creamy embrace of a brie to the robust character of an aged cheddar, the cheeses spoke of tradition and terroir, inviting me to savour the nuances of West Country’s dairy heritage.
The ambiance under the glass atrium adds a touch of sophistication to the dining experience. Whether it be making a reservation for a leisurely brunch or an intimate dinner, the surroundings enhance the overall dining experience here.
Whether you’re visiting for a weekend getaway or a business rendezvous, The Hyatt Regency Birmingham is more than just a hotel – it’s a destination in itself.
