Arriving at 137 Pillars Suites & Residences feels less like checking into a hotel and more like being welcomed into a private sanctuary high above Bangkok’s vibrant heart. The city hums with its usual rhythm below, yet the moment you step through the doors, there is a sense of calm and exclusivity that sets the tone for your stay.
Set in the fashionable Phrom Phong district, the hotel is ideally located for exploring Bangkok’s cosmopolitan side. With the EmQuartier and Emporium shopping centres nearby (served by a free regular hotel shuttle), Benjasiri Park is within walking distance, and the BTS Skytrain is close at hand; the location strikes a balance between central convenience and retreat-like calm.

Our Ayutthaya Suite
Our suite, room 2505, immediately impressed us with its thoughtful layout and elevated sense of Thai style. Entry began with a grand circular foyer, a place to pause and admire the carefully curated space designed with comfort and ease in mind. On entering, the room already felt both dramatic and welcoming.
The foyer connected seamlessly to floor-to-ceiling sliding dark wooden doors leading to the guest bathroom, clad entirely in white marble. From here, the space also offered a treat for coffee and tea lovers: a dedicated pantry and minibar area that kept everything within easy reach. Moving from the foyer led to a residential-style retreat, the pure feeling of coming back home.
The living area was particularly inviting, with multiple corners and nooks to settle into depending on the mood. A curved dining table with built-in banquette seating sat beneath striking horse artwork, while a sleek writing desk provided a quiet place to work or dine at leisure. The plush sofa faced a large TV, perfect for unwinding after a day in the city.
The balcony was another highlight, stretching across the suite with panoramic views of the Bangkok skyline. A daybed was positioned for lounging in comfort, complemented by a small table and chairs for enjoying drinks or a quiet moment above the city.
Before entering the bedroom, we paused to admire the spacious walk-in wardrobe, with ample storage, a vanity desk, and a well-designed mirrored wall that reflected the glamour of the city skyline buzzing in the background. The bedroom itself featured a super king-sized bed dressed in fine linens, complemented by mood-adjustable lighting and temperature controls for total comfort.
Beyond the bed lay the en-suite bathroom, a sanctuary in its own right. It showcased opulent white marble double sinks, a floor-to-ceiling rainfall shower, and an oversized round soaking tub that transformed daily routines into indulgent rituals.

Suite Benefits & Breakfast
Staying in a Pillars Suite comes with privileges that elevate the experience: butler service, private check-in, lounge access with daily refreshments, and a very comprehensive happy hour offering evening cocktails that made even the busiest days feel effortless.
Breakfast was a particular highlight. As suite guests, we enjoyed it at the Baan Borneo Club on the 26th floor, available any time from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The flexibility alone was remarkable, but the food elevated it further.
The buffet spread was impressive, with artisanal sourdough, honeycomb, freshly baked pastries, and a generous charcuterie selection that included premium Iberian ham and smoked salmon. Alongside this was an à la carte menu offering refined breakfast classics. Highlights included avocado toast topped with crab and caviar, and perfectly crisp bacon and eggs. The atmosphere was calm, refined, and reserved exclusively for suite guests, making mornings feel special and unhurried.

The Pool & Leisure
One of 137 Pillars’ defining features is its rooftop infinity pool, reserved only for suite guests. Positioned on the top floor, it offers uninterrupted views across Bangkok, stretching from Sukhumvit to the Chao Phraya River. Whether at sunrise, when the water reflects soft gold, or in the evening, when the skyline shimmers in neon, floating at its edge feels like being suspended above the city.
Complementing this were wellness facilities that felt equally curated: a fully equipped fitness centre, a serene spa with traditional Thai and modern treatments, and even a golf simulator to add a playful touch.

Our Nimitr Four-Course Tasting Journey
Dining at Nimitr was one of the true highlights of our stay, with a four-course tasting menu that blended artistry, local tradition, and high-quality ingredients. The intimate setting, with its floor-to-ceiling views inside and an outdoor terrace with warm lighting perfect for selfies, made for an unforgettable evening.
We began with the appetiser: Mang Kham King Scallop, which was a generously sized seared scallop layered with Thai herbs, dried coconut, and sugar-cone sauce atop crispy betel leaves. A dish that captured freshness and texture in every bite.
Next came the soup: the iconic Tom Yum Goong, a deeply flavoured spicy prawn soup with tomato, mushroom, and Thai aromatic herbs, balancing heat with depth.
The star of the evening was the main course, Kor Moo Yang, served in a grand display of grilled pork neck accompanied by roasted rice, herbs, and dipping sauce. This course was beautifully presented and rich in flavour, a true recommendation from us.
We ended our culinary journey with the cultural classic Khao Neaw Mamuang, translated from Thai, it means mango sticky rice, which has been reimagined as mango mousse with coconut flakes, delicate yet indulgent.
Thoughtful cocktails and wine pairings enhanced the journey, while the outdoor terrace framed the city skyline, turning dinner into theatre against the Bangkok night.

The Story Behind the Name
The name 137 Pillars carries a legacy that stretches back to Chiang Mai, where the historic 137 Pillars House still stands. Originally built as the headquarters of the Borneo Trading Company, the residence was supported by exactly 137 teak pillars, a dedication to such a small yet significant detail that inspired both its name and its lasting legend.
From this heritage property, the 137 Pillars Hotels & Resorts brand was born. In Bangkok, the hotel continues this legacy not just through its name and design, but also through Jack Bain’s Bar, which honours Jack Bain, the last owner of the original Chiang Mai house. It’s a thoughtful nod to history, seamlessly blending the charm of the past with the sophistication of the present.

A Stay to Remember
137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok is more than just a place to stay. It is a retreat that balances luxury, comfort, and authentic Thai hospitality. From the sanctuary of our Ayutthaya Suite and its skyline balcony to the serenity of the rooftop pool, from leisurely breakfasts at the Baan Borneo Club to the elegance of the Nimitr Tasting Journey, every detail felt deliberate and memorable.
What truly impressed us, however, was the team’s ability to care deeply and provide an experience of pure elegance and dedication to our utmost comfort. Every team member we encountered was knowledgeable and friendly. 137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok shows us the commitment and passion it takes to be an expert in care and hospitality, which has now become a rarity in today’s hectic world.
