‘A smile is a curve that sets everything straight’ and taking a trip to see Dr Manrina Rhode will certainly give you the dental excellence and TLC that you may need. Everyone looks better with whiter teeth and while there’s always the option of DIY kits, professional whitening offers the supervision of a dental professional and this is worth the extra cost towards achieving long-lasting results, that are both safe and effective. We’re all striving for that perfect smile and with teeth discolouration being a nasty habit of most of our lives, professional teeth whitening is definitely the solution.
Since graduating from Guys Hospital London and achieving a masters level in advanced aesthetic dentistry at the prestigious New York Dental Institute, Dr Manrina has since become one of the top cosmetic dentists in the UK. With Dr Manrina Rhode’s expertise sitting at the heart of cosmetic dentistry, it comes as no surprise that Dr Manrina also runs a training academy for other dentists to learn the art of designing super smiles.

My teeth before
Visit 1
I am greeted by the receptionist as well as the beautiful friendly smile of Dr Manrina herself. I am welcomed to a cosy waiting area where there were several shelves and a cabinet full of awards, achievements and thank you cards. The snug room flowed with an essence of thankfulness and appreciation, highlighting the high level of standards achieved in the work delivered at this practice.
A nurse took me through to a private room. Inside, Dr Manrina and the dental chair both awaiting and expecting me, ready to begin my teeth whitening journey. Like every dental visit we started with a check-up, putting my teeth under the spotlight for their expert analysis.
During lockdown I decided to take liquid iron to supplement the deficient levels I had in my body, however little did I know that it would start to heavily stain my teeth. Inevitably, this was a topic post check-up and I was relieved to hear that the teeth whitening process would pull out these irritatingly self-inflicted stains. White spots on my teeth due to drinking overly fluoridated water from growing up in the midlands, along with bruxism (jowl lines developing around your jaw as a consequence from unconsciously clenching and grinding my teeth), were also identified and explained in my post check-up conclusion. It is fair to say that the attention to detail on my teeth in this check-up was second to none that I’d experienced before from other practices.
As the soft classical music in the background continued to relax and distract me, Dr Manrina took my impressions using a putty like formula, so that my bespoke trays could be made for me to use at home. She also showed me the level of whiteness that my teeth would achieve (usually, your teeth will whiten to the same colour as the white of your eyes) and took some high definition photos for my all-important before shots of my teeth.
Visit 2
Two weeks had passed and it was time to go back and pick up my bespoke trays! Dr Manrina showed me how to fit the trays into my mouth which was super easy and I loved the fact that they were so comfortable to wear. She also showed me how to use the specially formulated hydrogen peroxide, which is basically the bleach that you use inside the trays to bleach your teeth pearly white. I’m instructed to wear my trays for an hour a day for two weeks. This I am told will take most teeth to whitening saturation point.

My teeth after
Post two weeks of whitening
Was I wrong to jump on the teeth whitening bandwagon? Definitely not! After just one day of using the trays you could evidently see the bleach doing its job. And after two weeks my teeth are white and I’m receiving compliments from friends and colleagues (admittedly, I am confidently showing off my smile to anybody I speak to).
In order to maintain my teeth looking at their best, I just need to top up by using my trays once every 2-3 months (depending on how you like to control / maintain the whiteness of your teeth). Not only is this form of professional teeth whitening simple and easy to do, but the results are efficient, safe and most of all effective. Beauty trends come and go, but my pearly whites are here to stay for good.
