When Bentley first launched the Bentayga back in 2015, it was a bold move to enter a sector of the motor industry already saturated with luxury 4×4 SUVs. However, Bentley saw an opportunity to elevate their expertise in sport and luxury to an unprecedented level.
Fast forward nine years, and we have the Bentayga Extended Wheelbase (EWB), which is seven inches longer than the standard model, providing ample space for a weekend getaway. This extra length adds to the allure, making the Bentayga Mulliner the most luxurious Bentayga yet. The desire to sit in the front seat vanishes when you witness the rear seat layout, offering a first-class travel experience.

Bentayga: A Sight to Behold
On the road, the Bentayga is unmistakable, with its iconic front grille and extended rear doors. Our test model, painted in Cambrian grey and fitted with 22-inch alloy wheels featuring polished pockets, is sure to turn heads. The B motif in the center of the wheel remains upright, a testament to Bentley’s meticulous attention to detail.
Despite boasting the largest cabin space in its class, the Bentayga’s design cleverly conceals its size. Driving this large vehicle is a joy, thanks to its nimbleness, excellent balance, and responsive steering, which provides a connected feel to the road. The Cambrian grey paint, complemented by chrome brightware, including the Mulliner matrix grille and wing vents, adds to the vehicle’s elegance. The interior, finished by Mulliner, comes with a price tag of £254,000.

The Bentayga Guilt-Free Extravagance
The exterior elegance is only a hint of the luxury inside. The Bentley Airline Seat Specification sets new standards for rear passenger comfort. The seat configuration and Mulliner detailing make this vehicle unique and extraordinarily luxurious.
The duo-tone cabin features Newmarket tan leather with burnt oak and camel accents, contrasting stitching and piping in camel, grand piano black veneer, Mulliner overlays, and a diamond-brushed center console. If this combination isn’t to your liking, Bentley offers over 4,000 different color combinations, ensuring each Bentayga is unique.

Upon opening the door, you are greeted with overwhelming luxury. Remarkably, Bentley has prioritised sustainability alongside opulence. The leather tanning process uses water from olive pressing, free from harmful metals or minerals.
The luxury extends to the deep pile mats made from 100% wool. The yarn is soaked in water to open the fibres before dyeing, ensuring the process, known as hank dyeing, maintains both sustainability and quality.

The Perfect Driving Experience
Once behind the wheel, the seat adjusts to your pre-selected position, and you are surrounded by a magnificent array of instruments. The rev counter bears the inscription “Bentley est. 1919,” and the speedometer highlights that the car is handmade in England. The combination of leather, wood, and chrome creates an unparalleled driving experience.
Press the start button, and the instruments come to life with a subtle roar from the twin-turbo V8 engine, delivering 542 BHP for effortless power. In town or slow-moving traffic, cylinder deactivation reduces fuel consumption by shutting down four cylinders. Four-wheel steering facilitates manoeuvring through tight spaces and provides a surprisingly tight turning circle.

Final Thoughts
Flying first class is a luxury few can resist. The Bentley Bentayga EWB Mulliner, with its exquisite Airline Seat Specification, offers a first-class experience on four wheels.
From the reclining seats with deployable foot support, full heating and massage facilities, champagne cooler and crystal glasses, self-closing rear doors, to a climate-sensing system that maintains optimal temperature and air quality—the attention to detail is boundless.
Bentley’s decision to enter this market sector has undoubtedly set new standards in luxury and excellence. The Bentayga EWB Mulliner exemplifies first-class motoring.
