The Dorchester Collection is set to expand their portfolio with their first collection hotel in Asia, in Tokyo. Having been selected to manage the hotel within ‘Torch Tower’, the highest building in Japan. The hotel aims to offer utmost Japanese hospitality along with our much-loved Dorchester superior service and experience. Opening in 2028, this new addition to the Dorchester Collection is one we are super excited about.
The Dorchester Collection x Torch Tower
Making their debut in Asia, The Dorchester Collection’s partnership with Tokyo Torch is all about retaining its strong cultural roots and heritage and becoming an integral part of the local community. This is a key component of the redevelopment taking place in the city centre.
Currently under construction in the heart of Tokyo’s city centre, the soaring upper floors of the tower will boast stunning panoramic views of the city centre, Tokyo Bay, Imperial Palace and beyond the bustling city with views of the magnificent Mount Fuji and beyond.
Architecture and Interior Design
Located in the city block which was once a gateway to Edo Castle and is now a shining landmark of hope in Tokyo, the Dorchester Collection hotel is set to have sophisticated nature-inspired design motifs that will fill the spaces; a continuum from the Kyu Shiba Rikyu Garden, Hamarikyu Garden, and the water of Tokyo Bay.
It wouldn’t be a Dorchester Collection hotel without personal touches and fine collections of art and antiques and combined with a soft colour scheme and warm lighting, the hotel will be left with a feeling of warmth, elegance, and comfort with a residential atmosphere. These small and delicate touches highlight Japan’s culture and heritage.
The Rooms
The hotel plans to have 110 rooms spread over floors 53 to 58, with a pool, spa, and gym to be on the 54th floor. The lobby is to be located on the ‘Sky Hill’ floor, welcoming guests with stunning views. Following the natural aesthetic and design palate of the rest of the hotel, the Dorchester Collection Hotel rooms will be designed with earthy wooden tones with flora elements added inside the rooms, and lighting with traditional Japanese design elements. A blend of Japanese culture and modern comforts, ready to relax and unwind in.
In a nutshell
The culture, history, heritage, location and architecture are a delicate combination that showcase The Dorchester Collection and Torch Tower Tokyo, a seamless blend of modern and historic with luxury and comfort.
Christopher Cowdray, chief executive officer, Dorchester Collection said, ‘This new hotel will become a beacon for Japan’s ultra-luxury hotel landscape and set new benchmarks. World-class architects will inspire with their symbolic design torch concept, lighting up not only the future of Tokyo and Japan but also the world.”
