Brilliantly crafted to reflect the sky, the Maserati MC20 Cielo is the latest supercar beauty. Maserati are now in their 110th year and the MC20 Cielo is a marriage of these years of dedication. Curated with ‘wind tunnel technology’ this is a true sporting car. This test car was in Rosso Vincente with a lot of the option boxes ticked, like front suspension lift, wonderful looking high spec wheels and exterior carbon pack to name just a few, bringing this car up to a sum north of £300,000.

Speed and sophistication
Created from the ground up, this beautiful-looking car has two main ingredients, carbon fibre and composite. These are cleverly disguised in the perfectly almost fluid-like body panels and run the entire length of the underside of the car. Using these materials allows the car to be super strong and very light. The 360° camera around the vehicle prioritises the driver’s safety for an exhilarating drive while taking care of the well-being of its passengers. The car maintains the power to go up to 60 MPH in just 3 seconds. Maserati encapsulates a graceful and timeless look while striving for innovation in the driving experience.

The Luxuriously Crafted Interiors of the MC20 Cielo
Once you have finished admiring the outside, you can raise the butterfly doors and slide onto those wonderful seats. Maserati have done a great job inside too and the adrenaline of the interior design makes this car all the more attractive. It is a masterclass in decluttering as there is everything you need and nothing you don’t. With the exception of the drive and reverse button, the only other tactile knob is the rotary volume for the hifi (it does matter). Everything else is dealt with through the central touchscreen, where you will find the operation for the roof which can go from open to close in twelve seconds, so just enough time to react to the British weather. Then there is the party trick, a button that changes the glass roof from opaque to clear sky. Clever. Designed with polymer-dispersed liquid crystal technology to block out the sun, the windows are also 97% effective at blocking out sunlight.
From the hand-stitched leather upholstery to the meticulously crafted dashboard, the cockpit is designed carefully to create an enlightening experience for the driver, offering state-of-the-art technology and mindful controls for a comfortably speedy drive. Contrast stitching and finely detailed embroidery add a touch of sophistication to the upholstery, showcasing Maserati’s attention to detail. Ambient lighting enhances the interior feel, allowing you to set the mood with a range of customisable colours. Whether you prefer a calming blue hue or a vibrant red glow, the Cielo adapts to your personal style and creates an inviting atmosphere for every journey.

The Driving Experience
All of the design and craftsmanship comes alive when you wake up the new V6 twin turbo Nettuno engine, made in-house by Maserati and as you won’t find this engine anywhere else, neither will you find the noise. It is worth mentioning the noise because this is where the MC20 starts to part company with its rivals. The exhaust note is certainly going to get you noticed and the MC20 Cielo is brutally quick. The usual inoffensive deep-down rumble goes straight to a roar as you speed up to the national speed limit.

When you first press the start button on the steering wheel, the exhaust note goes from excited, soon calming to a deep rumble. Place your foot on the brake pedal, press the button marked D, release the handbrake and you’re off. This has to be the easiest supercar to drive and once you get used to being so low to the ground, it really is a joy, soaking up the silky-smooth roads we have learned to love in the UK (if only). The suspension is performing miracles working in collaboration with a very comfortable seat, which has all the functions you need to find the perfect driving position. So the 630 bhp and figures like peak torques of 730-newton meters are going to be the reason why it is so fast but how Maserati have got these figures down a driveshaft to the tyres and onto the tarmac that quickly is beyond me. It’s lightning quick.
Maserati is more than just driving a car; it’s a statement of taste, sophistication, and a passion for the finer things in life. Designed with a glass rooftop to give you that luxury feel, the performance of the MC20 Cielo does not falter. Enjoy the refreshing winds as you speed through the city or the countryside comfortably in its stabilising interior. The handling of the MC20 Cielo is nothing short of exceptional, thanks to its advanced suspension system and precise steering.

Final Thoughts – The Maserati MC20 Cielo
This is definitely supercar money but is it a super car? With an engine that produces more than enough power to satisfy the racing driver in us all, matched with a wonderful exhaust note playing in the background and an ability to soak up the miles in utter luxury, this car is such a pleasure to drive. With looks to die for, I think Maserati have come very close to making what is probably the best supercar at this moment in time.
