Blending world-class clinical expertise with design-led comfort, Memorial Houston Medical’s new London hospital is a labour of love with a mantra of intensive, highly personalised care in a setting that has the feel of a private members’ club but in a world-class yet accessible medical setting.
Medical services
Behind the elegant Art Deco façade on Fulham Road, MhM London is first and foremost a serious hospital dedicated to complex, high-acuity medicine and rehabilitation. The new site brings to South Kensington the clinical philosophy pioneered in Houston: intensive, consultant-led care for patients recovering from major surgery, serious illness and long-term conditions.
The facility houses six state-of-the-art inpatient suites, all capable of providing intensive care-level support, alongside three outpatient rooms for follow-up, diagnostics and tailored therapies. Patients are admitted for a wide range of needs, from cancer care, complex wound management and diabetic complications to orthopaedic recovery, cosmetic surgery aftercare, pulmonary medicine and long-term acute care.
An on-site private GP service is fully integrated into the hospital model, allowing families to access bespoke primary care within the same calm, design-forward space where they may later undergo investigations or inpatient treatment. MhM also offers structured prehabilitation programmes, helping patients prepare physically and mentally for demanding procedures with personalised plans focused on strength, nutrition and overall resilience.

The visionary behind MhM: Danny Shebaclo
Danny Shebaclo, VP of business affairs at MhM, has been instrumental in bringing this visionary hospital to London. With the opening of inpatient services marking a major milestone, Danny emphasises the hospital’s commitment to a deeply considered, human-first approach to medicine. “Our vision is to offer a facility where design, dignity, and medical innovation come together, ensuring patients receive world-class expertise, total discretion, and unparalleled comfort,” he says. Under his leadership, MhM is shaking up private healthcare in the UK, blending clinical excellence with a boutique hotel experience and a firm focus on patient care.
MhM was founded by leading US physicians with the aim of creating a world-class hospital that prioritises design, service, and the patient environment alongside medical treatment. This innovative approach reflects the comfort and familiarity of home and the comforts of a boutique hotel.

Access and insurance
Although the experience feels luxuriously discreet, MhM has been conceived to be as accessible as possible within the private system. Stays and eligible treatments can be funded through major private health insurance policies when part of a necessary treatment plan, bringing this level of care within reach of a broader group of patients who already hold comprehensive cover.
For those choosing to self-fund, prices are positioned in line with other leading London private hospitals, with overnight stays starting from around £750. This balance – benchmark pricing paired with an unusually high staff-to-patient ratio and design-first environment – is central to MhM’s promise of raising, rather than merely matching, the capital’s private healthcare standards.

Design, neurasthenics and architecture
From the moment patients step in from Fulham Road, MhM treats architecture and interiors as part of the clinical toolkit rather than a decorative afterthought. The building, originally an Art Deco jewellery store, has been reimagined by LSI Architects to maximise natural light, privacy and spatial calm, with six residential-style suites and generous areas for families to spend time together away from the bedside.
Inside, Houston-based designer Benjamin Johnston has created a palette that nods to luxury hospitality more than traditional healthcare, with soft tones, layered textures and meticulous joinery that subtly conceals clinical equipment. The aim is to evoke the ease of a beautifully appointed home or boutique hotel while meeting the most demanding medical standards, supporting the growing evidence around neurasthenics and the impact of environment on recovery, mood and stress.

Art as therapy
Art is woven through every floor of MhM London, curated in collaboration with Ackerman Studios to encourage reflection, connection and a strong sense of place. Visitors are greeted by a calming work by artist Ewan David Eason at the entrance, while a vast, gilded map of London painted across the vaulted wellness room ceiling turns the top floor into an immersive, contemplative space with views across Kensington and Chelsea.
Elsewhere in the building, bold collage, photography and works by celebrated names – including pieces by Sir Peter Blake and Andy Warhol – animate corridors and lounges, with quieter, more meditative works reserved for areas intended for rest and recuperation. Ceramics and bespoke tableware extend this philosophy to dining, ensuring that even the most functional moments of a hospital stay feel considered, beautiful and gently uplifting.

World-Class Medicine With Boutique Comfort
Service at MhM is shaped by luxury hospitality as much as by clinical protocols, epitomised by its “Guardian Angels” concept. Staff across nursing, front-of-house and food and beverage are trained in partnership with the Dorchester Collection Academy, bringing the same anticipatory, highly personalised approach found in London’s most prestigious hotels into a medical context.
Front of House, led by hospitality professionals with backgrounds at landmark properties such as The Dorchester, plays a crucial role in setting the tone from arrival to discharge. The objective is to remove friction at every stage – from admissions and visiting arrangements to late-night requests – so that patients and their families can focus entirely on treatment, rest and recovery.

Holistic therapies and everyday rituals
Beyond medicine, MhM leans into a holistic view of healing that encompasses emotional well-being and meaningful daily rituals. The wellness floor, with its barrel-vaulted ceiling and access to an outdoor terrace, hosts therapies aimed at relaxation, pain management and stress reduction, all overseen by specialists who work alongside consultants and nurses rather than in isolation.
Among the more innovative offerings is equine-assisted therapy, which uses guided interaction with horses to help rebuild confidence, process trauma and restore a sense of agency after serious illness or life-changing events. In parallel, an in-house culinary team, led by a private chef, creates bespoke menus for each patient, aligning nutritional needs with personal preferences so that food becomes another carefully tuned element of the treatment plan rather than an afterthought on a tray.
