Officina 00, nestled in the heart of Fitzrovia, presents itself as a haven for those seeking an authentic Italian dining experience. The brainchild of culinary maestros Elia Sebregondi and Enzo Mirto, this restaurant is a testament to their commitment to preserving the essence of traditional Italian recipes while infusing them with innovative cooking techniques. Their philosophy revolves around using seasonal ingredients to craft dishes that are a symphony of flavours, textures and richness—a culinary expression of their Italian identity.

The Raviolo Bergese revelation
Embarking on my gastronomic journey at Officina 00, I found myself captivated by the artistry of their menu, each dish a carefully curated ode to Italian culinary heritage. The Raviolo Bergese emerged as a star on the stage, a delicate dance of flavours featuring a perfectly cooked egg yolk nestled amidst a wild mushroom medley, all brought together with the unexpected twist of miso butter. It was a harmonious composition that left a lingering satisfaction.
The Buffalo Burrata, with its vibrant hues and dynamic textures, was testament to the kitchen’s mastery. The tartare of tomatoes provided a refreshing contrast to the rich creaminess of the burrata, while the anchovy mayo and pea shoots added layers of complexity, making each bite a revelation.

A Symphony of Flavours
Next in line was the Occhi, an intriguing rendition of octopus Genovese. The tender octopus, bathed in a sour parsley pesto and elevated by a house sriracha kick, showcased a deft balance of flavours. It was a testament to the kitchen’s prowess in marrying tradition with contemporary flair.
The Pumpkin Gnocchi, a comforting dish in a sauce of brown butter and sage with a decadent touch of gorgonzola transported me to the heart of an Italian kitchen. The pillowy gnocchi melted in the mouth, while the robust flavours of the sauce created a symphony of taste that lingered on the palate. It might have been the most exquisite gorgonzola I have ever tasted.

Limoncello Kissed Custard
As the culinary journey approached its crescendo, the Lemon Delizia provided a sweet denouement. The limoncello custard, adorned with pistachios, was a triumph of citrusy indulgence, striking the perfect balance between tartness and sweetness. Accompanied by a couple of limoncello chasers and we were planning our next trip to the Amalfi Coast.
