Harrods once again solidifies its legacy in British hospitality as their afternoon tea at The Georgian is recognised with the prestigious award of Best Contemporary Afternoon Tea 2025 by the esteemed guide AfternoonTea.co.uk. Founded in 1911, The Georgian has been the heart of Harrods’ afternoon tea tradition for over a century. The recent relaunch of The Georgian in 2024 reaffirms its excellence as it combines heritage with innovation in an unforgettable atmosphere.

The Ambience: Modern Charm Meets Classic Grandeur
Step into The Georgian and you’re instantly immersed in a world of timeless luxury. The ambience, with natural light flooding into the grand dining space and surrounded by beauty, evokes a blend of traditional charm and modern sophistication. The service is as refined as the marble tables, offering world-class hospitality without pretence.

The Georgian atmosphere embraced aspects from the Roaring Twenties when the restaurant was famous for its thés dansants (tea dances) that drew in the city’s stylish elite. Now, the restaurant incorporates the most fun and fashionable aspects of the era, reflecting the artistry and magnificence of the time – a place where heritage meets contemporary elegance. To enhance the experience, an elegant live piano soundtrack fills the air as guests taste the exclusive tea blends and indulge in exquisite dishes.

Vegan Afternoon Tea: A Plant-Based Tea
For those seeking a plant-based experience, The Georgian at Harrods also offers a vegan afternoon tea, equally as delicious and luxurious.
The vegan cheese and caramelised onion tart mirrors its classic counterpart with a smooth Applewood cheese custard and green apple crunch in a crisp shell. The Coronation cauliflower terrine delivers a spiced cauliflower paired with rich caper-raisin condiment that creates a remarkable depth of flavour. The cucumber sandwich delivers a refreshing bite with rich pink pepper and creamy mint notes, creating an elegant and layered combination all packed into white loaf. Another great alternative is the carrot and grape sandwich, which introduces a sweet and savoury taste with spiced carrot slaw and rich jam on malted seed bread.
The scones, warm from the oven, will make your mouth water just from the smell and feel of them. Paired with a luscious Madagascan vanilla oat Chantilly and a medley of vegan jams, each bite is creamy, light and fruit-forward.
Desserts include indulgences such as the matcha and strawberry sphere layered with matcha sponge to deliver a balanced taste both sweet and earthy.

Hawaii Black No. 163 – one of the rarest teas in the world, it combines assamica and bohea leaves hand-picked from the slopes of the Mauna Kea volcano. It results in a unique and refreshing taste with notes of dates and honey and accents of nutmeg and cherry.
Ripe Pu-erh Coins No. 78 – an earthy tea with vanilla and mushroom notes. This beverage has incredible depth and an intense colour, as well as a clean, dry finish.

Harrods 175th Anniversary Tea Flight
As a celebration of their 175th anniversary, Harrods invites guests to explore three unique blends inspired by Harrods’ past, present, and future. Having been experts in tea making since the founder, Charles Henry Harrod, opened his first tea shop on Brompton Road back in 1849, the in-house specialists have dedicated a collection of limited-edition teas to express Harrods’ history and what is yet to come.
Past – a delicious fusion of black teas including Indian Assam, Sri Lankan, and Chinese Yunnan black teas paired with apple pieces, rosehip, lemon balm, safflower, and orange peel. An honorary sip reminiscent of Harrods’ origins and Victorian beginnings.
Present – a refreshing blend of Japanese sencha green tea layered with cardamom, cinnamon, peppermint, lemon myrtle, ashwagandha, and orange blossom. It seamlessly combines a variety of cultures and cuisines from around the world into a delicate and creative cup of tea.
Future – a vibrant herbal blend that combines apple slices, rosehip, beetroot, lemon verbena, lavender, and chilli. Showing that anything is possible, Harrods uses artificial intelligence and locally-sourced ingredients to create a bold, innovative concoction.

Beyond Tea
As well as the brilliant food by Calum Franklin, the wine list draws from the Harrods cellars to offer you the finest bottles from prestigious estates and hidden gems alike. As a courtesy of Coravin, many options are available by the glass, allowing guests to indulge and experience a variety of tastes.
The Georgian also has the cutest, most elegant bar. The Pacific 75 cocktail offers a tropical blend of Plymouth gin, coconut, passion fruit, jasmine tea and Harrods Brut Champagne. Its refreshing taste and bubbly texture result in an ideal choice for celebrations. The Georgian Martini is a refined alternative, balancing gin, sakura vermouth, Fino sherry and strawberry bitters.

A Triumph of Taste and Tradition
Being awarded the title Best Contemporary Afternoon Tea 2025 is more than a headline — it is recognition of Harrods’ commitment to timeless service and culinary artistry. The Georgian is not just a restaurant; it is a destination, an escape from the bustle of Knightsbridge, and a true celebration of refined luxury.
