The Absalon Hotel has a classical architecture that stands out during the day with its white façade and by night, when we arrived, the bright changing lights really set the scene for a vibrant entrance. Located in the heart of the city and 5 minutes walk from Central Station, from the outside you really appreciate the size of this Grande Dame hotel.
Our room was spacious with a small outdoor terrace and separate living room. The purples and greens used in the wallpapers and fabrics are all by the UK’s Designers Guild. The warmth and colour really make this hotel stand out from the usual minimalism associated with accommodation in this design city. The marble bathroom included a large bath and shower and Philippe Starck elements. The lighting, as in the bedroom, featured various settings to adapt the brightness according to mood and time of day.
Breakfast is in the long and vast rectangular lounge and whilst busy, it runs efficiently. The organic buffet features a range of cold and warm foods including smoked salmon, herring, cheeses, pastries, eggs and of course a wide variety of juices and hot drinks. It is designed in a sunken style so you feel relaxed on one of the cosy sofas planning a day out over a drawn-out breakfast.
The hotel is home to a fun bar which spills out onto the front street, a cosy lounge area with a fireplace, games room and a peaceful courtyard. Also, in the lobby is a vintage phone booth which acted more as a photo moment than a telephone!
The Absalon Hotel has a CONCEPT24 package which allows a late departure at no extra cost meaning you can keep the room for 24 hours, no matter the time of arrival. Also if you are staying for more than one night, an option to decline housekeeping and opt for a reward of one of several experiences is available, this with the environment in mind.
We are non cyclists here at Luxuriate but we still hired a “Velorbis” bike from the hotel’s reception to further explore the hip Vesterbro neighbourhood located in the world’s number one cycling city and visited some attractions below if you are in need of some inspiration.
