My love for bespoke all started with a set of colouring pencils when I was 5 and it hasn’t waned since! These were no ordinary pencils; these pencils had my full name embossed on them. Lending my colouring pencils to classmates became a joy as they admired the fact that they had my name on them. My love of personalisation continued from there and still does today. Read on to find out how I discovered Allél.
As an adult, there is something extraordinary luxurious about having your name embossed on embroidered onto something. My latest purchase was a cashmere travel set from Stranos Linen which has my initials embroidered on the front of the pouch as well as on the cashmere blanket and eye mask. Some may call it trivial or childish, but I see it as something special. Something that has been created for me and me only. Imagine my joy when I discovered Allél, a bespoke skincare company that creates a completely tailored skincare regime based entirely on your DNA. This is the next level personalisation.
Allél is the brainchild of two expert doctors with a mission to pioneer and lead the future of DNA inspired skin & healthcare. Dr Anne Wetter is a board certified Dermatologist and one of the founders of Sweden’s largest chain of dermatology clinics. Dr Elisabet Hagert is CEO of Sweden’s foremost private clinic for hand and foot surgery. I already feel in safe hands.
It all starts with a DNA testing kit that is sent to you in the post. As well as being a lover of the bespoke, I am also fastidious about security and my data, so I called Allél and was assured that my data would be disposed of securely and that my swab would be allocated a number, not a name, so I could continue with peace of mind. Once I had followed the easy instructions, swiped my cheek and popped it in the post, it was just a matter of time before my results arrived.
I received these a few weeks later and was given a full breakdown of my skin based on the results from my swab. The results are easy to read and concise and are not complicated or full of jargon. I was informed that my skin was low in vitamin C, I had normal levels of collagen and elastin and would age normally. I had overindulged in vitamin D sun exposure which had led to some sun damage that sadly could not be reversed and that my skin was prone to inflammation, especially in my eye area.
Upon receiving these results, a large box was delivered to my door which contained a cleanser, eye cream, serum, vitamin C cream and dietary supplements. I am always sceptical of skin products that claim to transform overall appearance of skin. However, having a range of skincare created based on your needs and yours alone is nothing short of genius. The most noticeable effect of a single product was the eye cream. I am not one to exaggerate, but the cream decreased the puffiness of my eyes instantly and with over a month of use, my puffy eyes have all but disappeared for now.
The products are not heavily scented nor do they make any radical claims but over the course of a week, I noticed that my skin was less dry with minimal redness and by the end of the month, I had an even skin tone, no more puffy eyes and well moisturised glowing skin. Not only does Allél create skincare exclusively for individuals, this also saves an incredible amount of time, trial and error and money. Visits to big-brand skincare counters could be a thing of the past as they may not target areas and skincare requirements that your individual skin needs.
Seriously, bespoke skincare is the way forward. You are no longer purchasing and trying the latest miracle product marketed by some multi-national corporation only to find that by week three or four of use, the results aren’t as ground-breakingly noticeable as you anticipated and you feel deflated and perhaps, sometimes annoyed as the product you purchased turns out to be a waste of time and money.
You can eliminate purchases like these for good as the Allél products are created and tailored to you and you only and results aren’t instant (apart from the eye cream!) but over a series of two weeks, they will become visible and noticeable and going forwards using personalised products, you can reap the compliments that come with using bespoke skincare. Like the colouring pencils that gained envy amongst my classmates, I am confident that skin-envy from friends will follow.
My love of personalisation continues and as I have got older, my tastes have become more expensive and I am always seeking the next level of bespoke. I can safely say that after discovering Allél I am no longer searching for the next best thing in skincare, as I have already found it and it is personalised, just for me! If anyone wants to send me any luxury items that are personalised, they will be gratefully accepted – my initials are LMB!
The DNA testing process and analysis is £282. The price of products depend on what is recommended individually.
