Amazónico, the Latin American restaurant in Berkeley Square, brings Rio de Janeiro’s most famous party to Mayfair, welcoming Brazilian street artists, live musicians, DJs, and dancers alongside their flamboyant menus.
From 17th – 25th February, the carnival celebrations will transport guests to the heart of Brazil. Amazónico’s exterior will be transformed for the entire week by Tarlisa Schubert, the Brazilian-born street artist flying over from Sao Paulo for the occasion. On the 17th of February, Tarlisa will create a hand-painted mural reflecting the Portuguese origins of carnival. As guests pass through the door and enter Amazónico, live Brazilian bands will play, bringing the rhythm and beats of carnival streets.
Executive Chef Vitelio Reyes’s carefully curated Carnival Menu, with striking colours mirrored with bold flavours, consists of six specials based on traditional carnival dishes with the A La Carte. Plates include:
Buenuelo de Feiojada – smoked beef ribs, cassava, and bitter orange.
Picanha Roll – Brazilian Style grilled rump steak, brioche bun and chimichurri sauce.
Taco Tropical – roasted mango, goats’ cheese, and shiso leaves.
To end on a sweet note, guests can indulge in the Tamal Dulce – sweet chocolate tamal, cachaça sauce, and port ice cream.
Six vibrant, colourful, and tropical cocktails specifically created for the occasion, will also be available for guests to enjoy. Save the Jungle – Brazilian national spirit Cachaça (specifically Yaguara Organico), Tamarillo (a Colombian fruit), Star Anise Puree, and Lime. It is a twist on a Caipirinha and includes a ‘pledge to plant a tree’ donation initiative for each drink sold. Guests can also enjoy the Margarita Picante – Casamigos infused Aji Pacna Chilly, Lime, Coca Leaf Liqueur, and Maraschino nodding to the passion and heat of carnival, or Sambadrome – Brazilian Vitoria Regia Gin, lime and pineapple soda.
The week-long celebration will culminate on Friday, 24th February, with an all-night party takeover from 7 pm. Live Brazilian dancers, bands and samba drum parades will weave themselves throughout the restaurant. A free-flowing bar of unlimited carnival cocktails and premium spirits for £120 is available from 11 pm. Renowned Brazilian DJ Aline Rocha will headline the Lounge until 3 am, joining an incredible line-up of music and entertainment throughout the evening.
