The Balvenie has partnered with distinguished chef, Emily Roux, to create a one-off immersive experience to celebrate the launch of its newest liquid, The Balvenie Twenty-Five Year Old. On Friday 8 October, the lavish event will take place at Harvey Nichols in London’s Knightsbridge.
The Balvenie is a unique range of single malts created by David Stewart MBE. The Balvenie Malt Master was awarded an MBE for services to the Scotch whisky industry by Queen Elizabeth II in 2016. Each expression has a very individual taste, but is rich, luxuriously smooth and underpinned by the distinctively honeyed character of The Balvenie.
Championing both the craft and people that go into defining The Balvenie, guests will be invited on a unique journey, bringing to life the Balvenie Twenty-Five Year Old from ingredient to glass. Creating an exclusive gastronomic experience, Emily Roux, has personally curated a six- course menu to perfectly complement the liquid. Bringing out the seemingly simple and incredibly complex flavours of the Balvenie Twenty-Five, presenting dishes that will tell the story of how this delectable whisky has been made.
Entering through a series of stunning gold rings and staggering tree structures, guests will be transported into a forest-like space that depicts each layer of flavour captured in The Balvenie Twenty- Five. Featuring spectacles of craftsmanship and passion, guests will be treated to the mouth-watering flavours and smells of the Twenty-Five through each touch of the experience.
The Balvenie Twenty-Five is the latest release of the Rare Marriage collection. Aged for 25 years, this premium single malt is the epitome of building exceptional flavour through the marriage of rare casks. Offering soft autumn fruits, runny honey, crystallised ginger and raw cane sugar notes, the liquid is underlined with a delectable rich oakiness to create complexity and structure. On the palette, the expression gifts an initial burst of bold vanilla oak flavours which slowly dissipate to reveal layers of toasted marshmallow, fresh fruit terrine and cinnamon infused apple tart, complete with an exceptionally long-lasting sweetness.
From a smoked beetroot tartelette, to a fresh Scottish langoustines tartare, roast venison saddle, and a unique whole roast fig, the menu has been designed to combine unexpected flavours to provoke the senses that mirror the Twenty-Five. Followed by a coffee and whisky tartelette and apricot chocolate truffle and peanut brittle to finish the meal, each menu item has been carefully handcrafted to awaken the senses.
To mark the release of this new expression, The Balvenie has also collaborated with a renowned paper quilling artist, Yulia Brosdskaya, to create a stunning piece of artwork that imitates the flow and fluidity of the expression. Transforming the everyday material of paper into wondrous, colourful creations, Yulia’s three-dimensional artwork will be on display at Harvey Nichols as a full window display for the month of October.
Tickets for the dinner on 8 October can be purchased for £45 here
