Hotel Café Royal have launched Barbounia. The restaurant brings authentic Italian and Mediterranean-inspired dining to London’s Regent Street. Situated in the heart of the luxury hotel, the space overlooks the stunning 700-pound Murano glass chandelier and space designed by Piero Lissoni.
Contemporary Cuisine
Created by Chef Alessandro Verdenelli, the menu showcases traditional cooking techniques with modern touches, using the highest quality ingredients and locally sourced and seasonal products wherever possible. Barbounia, which translates as red mullet in Greek, offers an all-day dining menu featuring classic Mediterranean flavours, from fresh seafood and meat dishes to handmade pasta and pizzettas. Designed to suit all occasions, whether dinner with friends and family or a business lunch, guests can choose from an array of small plates, sharing platters, main dishes, salads, sides, and desserts.
Look out for a daily fish of the day and some forgotten side dishes like a generous tomato spaghetti with a San Marzano tomato sauce. For desserts, a must order is a generously soaked rum baba with Chantily cream. These are contemporary dishes that created a really elevated hotel dining experience.

Delectable Dishes
The starters and small plates include the Raw Counter which has the Royal Platter for two, oysters, beef carpaccio and caviar, to red tuna tartare with avocado and rocket, grilled octopus, and black truffle arancini with Parmesan cream. Main dishes feature handmade pasta dishes such as Lobster Tortelli with cherry tomatoes, bisque, and micro parsley, Veal Milanese, and fresh fish dishes including Red Mullet with lemon and Provençal sauce.
Wine and Dine
The restaurant has put its own twist on the classic Aperitivo Hour offering a sharing platter of oysters, red prawns and langoustines with olives, Parmiagno and truffle arancini, served with a glass of sparkling wine or wine for £40 per person. Available from 3.00pm to 7.00pm.

Be sure to treat the family to a sophisticated evening at Barbounia, as children under 12 years of age are invited to dine on a complimentary basis too, a true reflection of the hotel’s family-friendly ethos. With a special menu just for the kids, offering courses such as Mini Cod and Chips, Cheese Toasty, and Vegetable Crudité, children are invited to enjoy the refined ambiance with the comfort of familiar dishes. Of course, the fun is never forgotten, as the sweetest treats are available on the children’s menu such as a banana split, a selection of various sorbets, and more for children to choose from.

Barbounia also brings a new level of sophistication to with a night of culinary romance to celebrate the upcoming Valentine’s Day, offering a special menu for the occasion. The special 8 course Valentine’s Day tasting menu features an array of exquisite dishes, including Leeks, Potatoes and Truffle Velouté, Cocollos Oyster and Amalfi Lemon, and a sumptuous Beef Filet with Foie Gras, Artichokes, Strawberries, Pan Brioch and aged Balsamic vinegar. With these kinds of courses, any Valentine is bound to find the night enchanting.
