A glittering guest list was spotted at The Carlton Tower Jumeirah to celebrate the launch of ‘NEMESIS’ by Andy Gotts – a portrait exhibition of iconic Bond adversaries to mark the 70th anniversary of Ian Fleming’s first ‘Bond’ novel.
The Carlton Tower Jumeirah’s flagship restaurant, Al Mare, was transformed into a dazzling casino for the evening in a unique collaboration with celebrity photographer Andy Gotts, who showcased his iconic portraits of Bond’s enemies over the years. Known as the only celebrity photographer to leave his pictures unedited, the partygoers were exposed to the raw faces of Bond’s nemeses.
Andy Gotts
The Norfolk native has captured some of the biggest names in Hollywood on camera, but the story behind the photographs enchants the images. Gotts photographs the stars in their most intimate element — their homes. Spending time talking to the celebrity before he shoots them, he’s able to gauge their moods and create work that complements their emotions. Without over-directing the shoot, he lets it unfold throughout the interaction.
Honoured in 2009 with the presentation of the Fox Talbot Award for excellence in photography, Gotts is experienced in preeminence. Also a former president of the British Institute of Professional Photographers, Gotts has proved himself to stand out against the rest in his raw, emotive photographs. His extensive portfolio showcases technical expertise, while evoking unparalleled emotions. Only available for a few weeks, the exhibition at the Carlton Tower Jumeirah is an absolute must-see.
We enjoyed a night of martinis, roulette and Blackjack as we admired captivating work to a backdrop of live music by jazz singer James Hudson. Champagne and cocktails flowed, as well as delicious canapés from Al Mare including a truffle croque monsieur and caviar.

While it may have been a casino and art gallery, the five-star hotel on London’s Sloane Street offers a prime location for guests looking to escape in Knightsbridge for a few nights. A short walk from the iconic Harrods or access to the dreamy Cadogan Gardens will have you admiring every corner of the area. If you don’t feel like leaving the hotel, you’ll never get bored during your stay. The second floor boasts one of the largest swimming pools in London, underneath a double-height glass ceiling. In addition to the pool, you can relax at the Talise fitness club and spa, with first class facilities offering massages, facials, aromatherapy, acupuncture, osteopathy and more.
The Chinoiserie hosts a relaxing, all day dining area for casual dining and the best afternoon tea in London, presenting delectable cakes, patisseries and scones paired with savoury delights including sandwiches.
‘NEMESIS’ will be running until 8 January 2024 at Al Mare, The Carlton Tower Jumeirah.
