The popular summer festival, Cocktails in the City, is shaking things up again in London’s Bedford Square, bringing three different themed festivals and over 20 of London’s top bars to the summer series for 2022. Spanning across three months, the festival will take place on the 7-9 July, 11-13 August and 8-10 September. Enjoy refreshing cocktails, mixology masterclasses, live music, makeovers, silent discos, sunshine and games.
Innovate & discover at the July Festival
The first festival running from 7-9 of July is themed “Innovation & Discovery,” featuring unique and unexpected cocktail creations from new and old spots around London. You may recognise the eclectic mix of participating bars from dive bars to five-star hotels, such as Bourne & Hollingsworth, Coupette, Disrepute and Homeboy Bars. The new organic Italian gin, Engine Gin, will also be available at the festival, as well as spirits from the female-owned carbon neutral whiskey distillery Nc’Nean and British-owned tequila brand Vivir. Come with an open mind to discover new cocktails and flavour combinations.
Pro-tip: don’t miss these drinks
Stand out cocktails for July include the Mary Antoinette by Disrepute Bar, a French martini with a bubbly twist of Möet Chandon Brut Imperial and infused with roasted pineapple and raspberry flavours. For a refreshing afternoon reset, the Health – Love – Happiness cocktail by The Mezzanine at The Stratford combines Martin Miller’s gin, London Essence grapefruit soda, lemongrass, rosewater and agave. Laki Kane is also offering a Saoco Punch, with coconut, passionfruit, lime and apple flavours bouncing off of Ron Santiago de Cuba Extra Añejo 11 Y.O.
Take a trip around the world at the August Festival
The festival during 11-13 August is internationally focused, titled the “International Edition” and promising to take you on a journey around the world through London’s international bar scene. Guests can expect to see cocktails from Café Pacifico, Laki Kane, Trader Vic’s, Fitz’s and Silverleaf. In just a few sips, you will be reminded of the rich diversity of cultures that London offers.
Pro-tip: Don’t miss these Moët Hennessy creations
Get ready to discover the Moët Hennessy brands like you’ve never tasted them before where a selection of Moët Hennessy’s most celebrated and enjoyed brands will be gathering at Bedford Square Garden to offer their own pop-up booths, where each will serve a variety of delicious and summer-inspired cocktails. From Glenmorangie and Hennessy to Belvedere and Moët & Chandon, there will be something for everyone throughout the festival.
Engage in the fun at the September Festival
The final weekend, on 8-10 of September, is the ultimate “Festival of Drinks,” immersing its guests with cocktails, live music from One Night Records, street vendors and games. Festival-goers can enjoy a game of shuffleboard with London Shuffle Club, or branch out and try the art of ice carving with resident instructor Zoran Peric from Ice Carving Cool. Who doesn’t love a cocktail and a makeover? Chambord & Iris avenue are adding glamour to the festival this weekend, offering a light and fruity Chambord Berry Spritz alongside a special pampering treatment.
You can finish the summer in style with 20 of London’s finest bars including the first pop-up of the Baccarat Bar from Harrods through to the renowned party bar The Cocktail Club. Standout cocktails will be on offer featuring Penicillin on Wax by Strongman’s Tipple and The Watermelon Sour by The Libertine just to name a few.
Expanding the Festivities
A special Thursday evening time slot has been added to the festival this year for post work cocktail fun. The festival was a great success last year and is continuing to expand and bring in new talent and bars from the city, so this Thursday evening slot will give everyone more time to explore the festivities this year. Prepare yourself to discover something new and expand your knowledge of mixology.
