Estiva Terrace Bar, a pop-up at The Chelsea Harbour hotel has recently opened. The seafood-based menu serves Venetian style ‘cicchetti’ or small plates ranging from £6 to £55.
Indulge in the elegance of Estiva Terrace Bar in Chelsea Harbour, London where you’ll discover a fusion of modern and classic Italian dishes in the form of cicchetti. These small plates are ideal for sharing with friends or for romantic meals on the outdoor terrace – an idyllic spot for enjoying the British summer, weather permitting. Drawing from his Italian heritage, Chef Alessandro has masterfully curated an enticing menu, allowing excellent Italian cuisine and premium ingredients to shine.
I step into the lift at The Chelsea Harbour Hotel, my passage to the culinary delights that await.
As the lift doors open, a sense of anticipation fills the air, unveiling a former lobby now transformed into a captivating dining area with stunning views of the harbour. A lavish Moët & Chandon Champagne Vasque, complete with a bottle of brut nestled inside, graces a long bar. Elegant tables, adorned in pristine white linen, eagerly await the arrival of guests.
I am warmly greeted by Gabriel, the impeccably dressed bar manager, who shows me to our table – an indoor choice this evening due to the weather, despite the bar’s summer-themed name. He explains that the initial plans to convert the terrace into a purpose-built bar have changed. Over the next two months, it will serve as a temporary bar while the ground-floor restaurants undergo redevelopment.
Gabriel suggests commencing the evening with Chelsea Star martinis as my guest and I look through the menu – a wise choice indeed. This delightful cocktail consists of Belvedere, Aperol, passion fruit puree, vanilla syrup, lime juice, and champagne. The martini is one of a selection of cocktails available; Estiva has partnered with Moet & Chandon, Whispering Angel and Ginraw, offering a selection of beverages to enjoy with your food.
Before we delve into the cicchetti, we start with Maldon oysters, accompanied by a classic Mignonette sauce, and complemented with a glass of champagne – the perfect marriage. This is followed by an exquisite selection of small plates, featuring roasted octopus on a bed of datterini tomato confit, Spigola – a sea bass ceviche, and a lobster pappardelle served with a rich crustacean sauce. If that wasn’t enough, there’s also the Fritto Misto; a seafood selection that includes, tender baby squid, seabass and tiger prawn, served with aioli sauce. And to conclude, a luscious, whipped bergamot panna cotta tart with summer berries, which happened to be the only dessert option available, yet a truly delightful one.
Other offerings at Estiva include afternoon tea or a three-course Sunday brunch menu with 90 minutes of free-flowing champagne or cocktails. On Fridays, enjoy the cicchetti menu while listening to live jazz.
For a relaxed atmosphere, accompanied by good food and friendly, attentive service, Estiva is a solid bet. And even if it seems that summer may have eluded Londoners, Estiva’s indoor setting provides a reliable plan B.
