Kentucky-based Lux Row Distillers launched an international-only release of its acclaimed Rebel 100 Kentucky Straight Bourbon. Making its first appearance at the Bar Convent Berlin, the limited-edition variant of Rebel 100 (50% ABV) is finished in Cabernet Sauvignon Barrels to create a unique take on the wheated bourbon.
The new, one-time-only finish follows the success of secondary finishes of Rebel Bourbon, released from 2019 to 2021. Three annual expressions saw Rebel (40% ABV) finished in French Oak Barrels, Cognac Casks and Tawny Port Barrels. The heightened proof of the bottle gives it a warmer, spicier finish — making it the perfect beverage for the autumn and winter months.

Six thousand bottles of the Rebel 100 Bourbon Cabernet Sauvignon Barrel Finish are being produced and will only be available for sale outside the US. The international-only release celebrates Rebel’s global fan base and supports continued efforts to grow the bourbon category in Lux Row Distillers’ key international markets, including the UK, Germany and Australia.
Finishing Rebel 100 in Cabernet Sauvignon Barrels creates a unique flavour profile of dried dark fruit, oak, leather, hints of blackberries and raspberries, red grapes and a light spice. On the nose, the bourbon has a sugary, spicy aroma with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg and black pepper — creating a balance as the sweetness softens the spice. John Rempe, master distiller and blender at Lux Row Distillers said finishing the bourbon in the cabernet sauvignon barrels gives Rebel 100 a rich, fruity finish. This complements the toasted wheat, caramel and vanilla flavours that bourbon contains.

For over 40 years, the Lux Row brand has been growing into a leading producer, under the Luxco umbrella of companies. The brand’s portfolio has flourished through a blend of innovation and acquisitions. Lux Row is capable of producing three million gallons of spirits per year. Located in Bardstown, Kentucky Lux Row rests in the bourbon capital of the world, due to the fertile ground of the Appalachian Mountains that foster the growth of corn — one of bourbon’s main ingredients.
Rebel 100 Bourbon Cabernet Sauvignon Barrel Finish will be distributed by Craftwork in the UK and Kammer Kirsch in Germany. 700ml bottles will be priced at £44.
