Mezcalito Brompton, a stylish and brand-new late-night offering situated on South Kensington’s Old Brompton Road, has officially opened its doors. Previously Eclipse, a spotlight of the area’s nightlife for decades, the launch comes from real-life partners Oliver Castilla-Tristan and Laura Geas; owners of lively and much loved Mexican restaurant Mezcalito Chelsea – where you will find the largest selection of Agave spirits in Europe and celebrating its fifth anniversary this year.

Nightlife Delight
Mezcalito Brompton aims to bring a taste of modern Mexican nightlife to the esteemed neighbourhood. The chic venue will offer a cosmopolitan cocktail bar on the ground floor and a boutique nightclub in the basement, providing an Agave spirits-led bottle-to-table service, a VIP area, and a roster of DJs playing soundtracks from Latin house to Reggaeton. Look out for bespoke Mexican glassware and art from adoring the walls that add to the atmosphere.
Walls Adorned with Heritage
In Mezcalito, two prominent artworks from Mexican artist, painter, and sculptor, Fermin La Calaca, decorate the walls of the space. Fermin La Calaca has been creating wonderful works of heritage and culture for more than 10 years and has hosted exhibitions in Los Angeles, Dubai, San Miguel de Allende, and Mexico City. Fermin has also been the face of the F1 Mexican Grand Prix since 2017. Previous to that, his appearances were in boxing, mainly at Saul “Canelo” Alavarez’s flights, after whom a Mezcalito cocktail is named. Adding to his list of prestigious collaborations, Fermin is the face of Mezcalito in the UK and was flown out to London to create the artwork live during Mezcalito Brompton’s opening night. This art is now a staple to the atmosphere and heritage found within Mezcalito Brompton.
Fermin’s techniques include acrylic, aerosols, resins, and sculpting, which he utilized to create two signature pieces for the Brompton location. Fermin created two artworks for the space, La Catrina, which is inspired by the traditional Mexican Catrinas, which represent death in Mexican culture, especially during Day of the Dead celebrations. The second piece, which was also made live and has named the Mezcalito Brompton location, is a tribute to Peso Pluma, a Mexican artist who has taken Regional Mexican music to the next level and made it popular globally in 2023.

Signatures for Brompton
Opened Tuesday to Saturday from 5 pm to 2 am, the Cocktail bar at Mezcalito Brompton will showcase its signature cocktails including their popular Picante, which is a home recipe composed of Enemigo Cristalino Tequila or The Lost Explorer Mezcal, Fresh Lime Juice, Agave and Salsa Picatne, Chile de Arbol, and finally Tajin. Other Signatures include Paloma and Margarita, as well as a Watermelon Martini; a nod to the former Eclipse’s signature cocktail. Looking for a twist on the classic? Try an Espresso Martini or Porn Star Martini featuring Mexican ingredients and Agave spirits.
A Flow of Drinks
In addition to the many signatures Mezcalito offers, even more sensational Cocktails and Tequilas are available on the menu to enjoy. Some notable cocktails on the Menu are the Cantarito, which uses 1800 Silver Tequila or Mezcal Verde Organic, and the Michelada, which uses either Modelo especial or Pacifico Clara. There are also plenty of original cocktails that sound enticing, such as Negroni de Oaxaca, which uses Amores Verdes Organic Mezcal or Whitely Neill Distiller Cut Gin, and Canelo, after the renowned Mexican boxer, which uses Bushmills Black Bush Irish Whiskey. For those who wish to skip the cocktail and get straight to the rich tastes of Tequila and Mezcal, Mezcalito also serves Tequilas such as Casamigos and even popular Mezcal Dos Hombres Joven Espadin from American actors Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul.

Savour El Sabor
The food menu is a celebration of authentic Mexican flavours, with a ‘Para Picar’ section inviting you to share the joy of traditional starters, including Chicharrones, deep-fried pork belly chunks served with salsa verde, Elote, Mexican corn on the cob dressed in Tajin butter and queso fresco and Tiras de Pollo, chicken goujons with habanero mayo.
A choice of tacos and quesadillas are available in an array of flavours, including the classic Mexico City Al Pastor Tacos – slow-cooked achiote-marinated pork, roasted pineapple, onion, coriander, and salsa verde or the Baja California Fish Tacos featuring beer-battered sea bass, cabbage, pickled carrots, chives, and chipotle mayo on a flour tortilla. You can also try the unique Colima Sopitos, crispy corn masa cakes with creamy refried beans, avocado salad, salsa, and queso fresco. Dessert options include Churros or Blood Orange Sorbet infused with tequila.
