Champagne season has arrived early in London, and this year it comes with its own address which includes Piper-Heidsieck and Covent Garden!
Until 30 November, Covent Garden’s historic Market Building is transformed into an atmospheric Winter Champagne Garden, an elegant pop-up from Piper-Heidsieck in collaboration with Courtyard Wine Cellars. Beneath strings of warm lights and festive greenery, guests can settle into a candle-lit outdoor terrace and experience some of the most celebrated cuvées from one of Champagne’s most awarded houses.
Here, the only brief is to slow down, sip, and enjoy.
A Champagne Sanctuary in the Heart of Covent Garden
What makes this pop-up special is its balance of festive charm and quiet sophistication. Courtyard heaters create a warm glow, and Champagne is served not only by the glass, but also from generous jeroboams, signalling from the outset that this is a place designed for celebration.
On the menu is a curated selection of Piper-Heidsieck’s finest expressions.
The Cuvée Brut is fresh and generous, with notes of citrus, orchard fruit and brioche. It is bright and expressive yet wonderfully balanced — the kind of Champagne that anchors every celebration and suits every palate.
For those who prefer elegance with a mineral finish, the Essential Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut offers a more sculpted, chiselled profile — all white blossom, crisp acidity and precision. Made entirely from Chardonnay, it lingers on the palate with a clean, saline finish, making it an ideal glass to enjoy before dinner or with oysters.
Then there is the Rosé Sauvage, one of the most characterful rosé Champagnes on the market. Deep in colour and bold in flavour, it leads with red berries and subtle spice, a rosé with structure and personality. Where some rosés whisper, Rosé Sauvage makes a confident entrance.
A Limited-Edition Collectors’ Piece
The pop-up also marks the launch of Piper-Heidsieck’s Code Rouge Edition — the Maison’s signature cuvée presented in a limited red-and-gold case shaped like a vintage fire extinguisher. It is playful, imaginative and instantly collectable, combining festive theatrics with serious Champagne craftsmanship.
Underground Wine Cellar and Sharing Plates
Once the temperature drops, guests can move below street level to the newly opened Courtyard Wine Cellars, London’s largest wine bar. Set beneath the arches of the Market Building, the space is atmospheric, intimate and lined with over 1,000 wines sourced from around the world.
Here, Champagne flutes give way to wine glasses and sharing platters. French and Italian cheeses, charcuterie and seasonal dishes are served with candlelight and deep armchairs — the sort of place where conversations tend to stretch into the night. The transition from Champagne terrace to the vaulted wine cellar feels effortless, as though both spaces are part of the same journey.
A Champagne House with History and Nerve
Founded in 1785, Piper-Heidsieck has long been defined by boldness and innovation. Today, under Chief Winemaker Émilien Boutillat — one of Champagne’s youngest — the house continues to pursue progress, becoming the first Champagne house to obtain B Corp certification, a recognition of its commitment to environmental and social impact.
Its wines are poured in over 80 countries, with a bottle of Piper-Heidsieck opened every six seconds somewhere in the world. Yet this Covent Garden pop-up proves that the Maison is equally at home in a festive terrace as it is on red carpets and Michelin-star dining rooms.
A New London Ritual
Whether it’s an after-work toast, a December date night or the start of holiday shopping, this is a space made for lingering. Champagne is best enjoyed when it’s not rushed, and here, it never is.
