As The Shard’s spire turns pink to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2023, Shangri-La The Shard, London have launched a Pink Sky Brunch, Pink Afternoon Tea and Pink Garden mocktail in a new partnership with Breast Cancer Now, the UK’s leading breast cancer research and support charity. Guests visiting Western Europe’s highest hotel during Pink October will discover artistic pink installations in the lobby inspired by feathers and neon, with fresh pink flower displays throughout the hotel.
Helping to raise funds and awareness for the charity, the new Pink Sky Brunch will grace the tables at Sky Lounge, the hotel’s weekend casual dining setting on Level 34 of the Shard, while the hotel’s popular annual Pink Afternoon Tea, this year in delicate shades of pastel, will return to TĪNG Restaurant & Lounge on Level 35.
A Pink Afternoon Tea
Surrounded by a blossoming pink floral display and vibrant magenta orchids in TĪNG Restaurant and Lounge, this year’s Pink Afternoon Tea will be served on a stand decorated with pink paper flowers.
Guests can delight in a selection of finger sandwiches made with freshly-baked pink bread filled with coronation chicken, smoked salmon and cucumber, classic Reuben as well as truffle egg and cress. Rose pink sweet and savory scones accompanied by strawberry jam and clotted cream lead into a refreshing selection of pastel treats including a blush sphere filled with shiso mousse, grapefruit and black pepper, a layered cake with pistachio and sour cherries and ’Shang Mont Rose’ with blackcurrant and mousse.
To finish, an irresistible miniature pink Shard building filled with white chocolate, apple compote and cinnamon sponge will be served over billowing clouds of dry ice. Available from 1st October, £1 from each Pink Afternoon Tea will be donated to Breast Cancer Now to fund vital research and support them to reach their goal – that by 2050 everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live – and will be supported to live well.
A Pink Sky Brunch
Throughout weekends in October, guests can also indulge in a brand new three course Pink Sky Brunch at Sky Lounge on level 34, with £1 per brunch sold also helping to raise funds for Breast Cancer Now. With a pink twist on the luxurious Sunday brunch experience, guests can choose from a selection of savoury Asian-inspired dishes such as pink okonomiyaki with smoked duck, wok fried tamarind prawns with ginger, chilli and onion dressed with edible fuchsia flowers, followed by an individual dessert of pink layered cake or Shang Mont Rose.
A Pink Garden
As the sun sets over London, guests can then venture to GŎNG Bar on level 52 to enjoy a refreshing mocktail which has been crafted by the mixologist team. The Pink Garden consists of 0% Lyre’s Pink London Dry, rhubarb cordial, green cardamom, soda and basil oil and is inspired by ingredients which have been studied for their potential natural health benefits.
Kurt Macher, General Manager of Shangri-La The Shard, London, said: “Breast Cancer Now statistics show that approximately 55,000 women and 400 men are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK. We’re proud to be supporting such a valuable charity and a worthwhile cause. We look forward to welcoming our guests to the hotel to mark this important movement and show support to those who are or who have been affected by breast cancer.”
Eyes across London will also turn to the Shard on 1st October as the iconic building lights its spire pink as dusk falls to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For the fourth year, Shangri-La The Shard, London has collaborated with the Shard to illuminate a pink light beam across the city.
