Spring is the season of staycations, new beginnings and a symbol of rebirth. Celebrating its 7th birthday, the hotel that has it all epitomises this rebirth at Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London. Reopening with a fanfare on 17 May 2021, expect many new experiences all for the same price, promising you added value as well as a rejuvenated body and mind.
Springtime is the best time
Upon entering the hotel, I noticed the refreshed logo celebrating Shangri-La’s 50th year anniversary, a coincidental nod to spring’s symbol of new beginnings. The refreshed new soul embraces the best of British springtime, collaborating with London’s McQueens Flowers and local artist Pimpupyourplants transforming the lobby into a botanical sensory hide away in the sky.
You arrive and pass through the trail of delicate butterflies and floral mannequins as you refamiliarise yourself with the inspiring views.
Take your spring holiday to new heights – The Suite Life
The team spruced up their signature suites just in time for a spring staycation. The Shangri-La Suite has had a delicate spring refresh. Each suite takes personalisation to new heights, “The Suite Life” program is where every aspect of your stay can be tailored and customised to your individual preferences, from having a personal bath butler, flowers, monogrammed pillows and more. The list of options doesn’t stop there with a private Harvey Nichols shopping experience and a dedicated shopping consultant at the glamourous Knightsbridge store.
The extreme attention to detail and personal touches is what makes the Shangri-La staycation stand out with each experience unique to every stay.
Atelier kids’ birthday in the sky
For the children in your life, transform your room into the coolest birthday playground in the sky, in partnership with expert children’s event planners My Kid Atelier. You can choose from The Sky Princess or The Sky Hero experience which includes a dedicated My Kid Atelier host who will lead themed games (this is an extra charge).
NEW: Sky Brunch
A night out in London is great but Sunday brunch in the Sky Lounge is about to become the best brunch in town. Sample dumplings to maki rolls and more, followed by a decadent dessert platter. Choose from a welcome drink on arrival or upgrade to 90 minutes of bottomless Veuve Clicquot Champagne. Easy choice!
Don’t forget throughout Summer, Bar 31’s outdoor terrace has been transformed into a sunny, Italian-inspired ‘Aperol Terrazza’. Sip your favourite spritz accompanied with Italian inspired delights including pizette and cicchetti.

Afternoon tea
Springtime is the optimal time for a romantic afternoon tea experience and here are two unique afternoon tea concepts in Western Europe’s tallest building.
Liquid Afternoon Tea at GONG
This great idea takes inspiration from the bar’s Eastern heritage, where you will sample miniature cocktail parings (including a tomato and sage creation), accompanied by an array of sweet and savoury treats to tantalise the tastebuds. The menu has a tempting array of contemporary Asian snacks including beef tataki nigiri and salmon sushi, as well as traditional items like the humble English scone.
Picnic afternoon tea experience
TĪNG Lounge will be celebrating the best of British spring through afternoon tea. The signature Welcome Tea has had springtime tweak to become a blend of a peach tea, honey, and lemon. When it comes to tea it is serious business, with an exclusive selection of loose-leaf teas from Camellia’s Tea house and a variety of Shangri-La signature teas. All served with delicious selections of sweet and savoury delights featuring finger sandwiches, handcrafted deserts, and freshly baked scones. If you’re in the mood for something more down to earth and a chance to explore London’s beautiful parks, a takeaway Picnic Afternoon Tea is also available.
