To celebrate the dawning of a new year and to put a wintery spin on al fresco, The Sloane Club has launched its cosy winter terrace, The Taiga at The Sloane Club, in partnership with Jackson Nugent Vintners and French winery Chateau La Tuilerie de Puy.
Characterised by its own unique biome consisting mostly of pines and spruces, The Taiga is a snow forest that lies just south of the Arctic Circle. The Taiga at The Sloane Club is a wintery enclave at the heart of The Club, decorated with snow-covered branches, pinecones and sparkly lights inspired by the magnificent Arctic stars.
Founded originally in 1922 by Queen Victoria’s daughter, Princess Helena, The Sloane Club was opened as the Service Women’s Club exclusively for women in the forces to have an affordable place to stay in London. With gentlemen not allowed entry until the 1960s, The Sloane Club was ahead of its time in honouring spaces for empowered women. The Sloane Club today carries the baton of this heritage by being a space exuding bonhomie for people to meet and come together with a shared attitude of embracing life in all its glory across its 130 bedrooms, Garden Room, Sloane Room, Bar and The Chelsea, its airy co-working space.
The Taiga at The Sloane Club is serving winter warming snacks, sharing platters, burgers and grills which go with a magnum of Bordeaux Supérieur. Another must try is a sticky toffee & date pudding with salted caramel & vanilla ice cream. The Sloane Club team can help with wine choices supplied by Jackson Nugent Vintners, a fine wine specialist who works exclusively with passionate, inspirational family wine producers from all over the world, including Château la Tuilerie du Puy.
Built in 1616, Château la Tuilerie du Puy is an historic family property and wine estate overlooking the Dropt valley, in the heart of Entre-Deux-Mers, a prolific wine growing area. For three generations, they have been harvesting, raising and bottling the great wines that have given them international acclaim. Get snuggled with a faux reindeer sheepskin and wrap up in a thick blanket under heaters to keep warm and enjoy this little hideaway in the heart of Chelsea.
