Whilst injectables like Botox and fillers are becoming more and more popular as the most impactful anti-ageing treatments, there are still some people who are apprehensive about trying them. According to world famous dermatologist Dr Ariel Haus, this nervousness is mainly due to fear of looking un-natural, with a new trend for less is more.
Dr Haus has many patients who, when they first came to see him, are incredibly anxious about trying fillers in particular. Whilst the objective is to look younger, they tend to be fearful of appearing augmented, puffy or ‘done’, which is a look associated with too much filler. Dr Haus explains that if you over-fill the cheek and eye area, the eyes tend to appear smaller and set-back in the face. This is something that people want to avoid.
A new type of filler
Last year, Dr Haus was introduced to a new type of hyaluronic acid (HA) filler called MaiLi, which has greater volumising qualities than other fillers he had traditionally used in the clinic. He found that by carefully placing just 1ml of MaiLi in the temples, the cheeks and the marionette lines, we can see a tangible improvement to the shape of the face immediately. Of course, each patient is different, and some people require more, but often, just 1ml of MaiLi will bring about the lift that is required to achieve that youthful appearance. Hence the name ‘The 1ml face lift’ was created.
1m is basically a fraction of a teaspoonful that will be used strategically over various points in someone’s face. It’s a great treatment that allows apprehensive or first time patients to see how wonderfully filler can work if administered with expert precision.
The treatment – what will happen
Step one: You will visit Dr Haus at his clinic on Harley Street for a consultation about whether the treatment is suitable for you. If Dr Haus believe you will benefit from the entry level ‘1ml facelift’ treatment using MaiLi, then you can book in to have the treatment on a convenient day. He will also advise which will areas will benefit most from the treatment and why.
Step two: You and Dr Haus will discuss the areas that you would like treated again. He will then thoroughly cleanse your face and mark out the areas he intends to treat.
Step three: Numbing cream will then be applied to your face, and after it has taken effect Dr Haus will inject your face in the specific places with MaiLi. The treatment will take no more than around 30 minutes and isn’t painful thanks to the numbing cream and lidocaine in the MaiLi gel. You will be able to see the impact of the results immediately after treatment.
After care: You will be advised about any after care and you will be able to go about your normal daily routine. However you may be advised to avoid saunas/steam rooms, or intense exercise for a few days.
So what makes MaiLi differet?
Dr Ariel Haus explains that “MaiLi is a next generation, premium HA filler that delivers incredibly natural looking results whilst using minimum product. MaiLi is easy to manipulate; a spring like gel that delivers impressive volume, projection and a supple fullness. My patients love the results which naturally enhance their features while retaining a full range of expression post treatment.”
MaiLi helps rejuvenate, contour and sculpt the face, while acting like soft, flexible and elastic skin tissue, working with the face’s natural movement and expression. This means you will experience soft and supple skin, compared with more rigid or restrictive fillers.
MaiLi has a spring-like effect because of a new patented Smart Spring Science technology. The world first preserves the natural entanglements between the long HA chains, which means fewer chemical links are needed. This creates a bouncy gel, which allows for natural movement, volume, and longevity. MaiLi is also synonymous with safety (and like all the products in the Sinclair portfolio of products it has an exemplary safety record), and uses lidocaine for a more comfortable experience.
MaiLi follows the lineage established by medical aesthetics company Sinclair Pharma which also boasts Ellansé, the first collagen stimulating dermal filler for the face in its treatment portfolio, as well as the recently launched Lanluma collagen dermal filler for the body and face.
