Ron Santiago de Cuba celebrates Daiquiri Week 2023 in style with Daiquiri Day on 19 July. Dedicating an entire week to this humble cocktail, it is clear that rum is now at the peak of popularity. Rum has pushed whiskey for the first time in sales and exceeded £1billion per year. The Cuban Daiquiri contributed to this. Tommy Cole, Brand Ambassador for Ron Santiago de Cuba, knows the secret to the best daiquiri. It’s not just a mixture of three ingredients (rum, lime and sugar). This is, first of all, the proportions and, of course, the quality of the rum itself.
Ron Santiago de Cuba Carta Blanca provides an incredibly rich and oily mouthfeel taste that makes it the best choice for a cocktail. Produced on the South-East of Cuba Island, known as the Cradle of Light Rum, it benefits from a unique, fertile microclimate that gifts rum a naturally sweet, smooth flavour profile.
Following the strictest of traditional practices, they hand harvest our sugarcane via the Macheteros, where they then extract the juices to produce that rich molasses ready for fermentation and distillation in order to maintain its ornate light style. The rum is aged in various white oak and ex cask-wine barrels in the celebrated Don Pancho maturation warehouse – known as the ‘Cathedral of Light Rum’. The Maestros del Ron Cubano are proud of the reserves of barrels used to create the unique liquid, made from 100% Oriente Cuban sugarcane, that transcends consumers expectations of a rum experience.
Daiquiri Week 2023 will celebrate the authenticity of rum but also will offer a plethora of variations of favourite timeless classics. The bars participating in the week will pour their visions of this cocktail. The best duty of summer is to grab another portion of the daiquiri version by night. In COYA, grapefruit and lime accompany 11-year-old rum, in Nightjar Shoreditch you can try a cocktail with an explosive mango flavour and a tremendous coffee-inspired Daiquiri at Alma Bar.
