Explora Journeys aspires to embody an ‘Ocean State of Mind’ by connecting guests with the sea and blending famous destinations with lesser-travelled ports. They recently partnered with experiential travel company Pelorus, offering yacht and travel charters. With a Pelorus host, guests will take a deep dive into the destinations to gain a unique and richer understanding of nature, culture, and history. Together the brands will offer once-in-a-lifetime experiences in Scotland and Iceland’s majestic land and seascapes.
Both brands hope to deliver world-class experiences together, prioritising unique, memorable, luxury adventures that aim to transform how guests see the world. Emphasizing travel with purpose, they look forward to building a long-term partnership. Soon, Pelorus and Explora Journeys plan to expand to travel opportunities in Alaska, British Columbia, Costa Rica, and Japan, among other destinations.

Destination Experience in Scotland, 2-6 September 2023
Scotland is home to striking scenery from quaint villages, bustling cities, and untouched countryside. For instance, guests can observe seals in secret lagoons and hike towering mountains on guided tours. Guests can participate in activities such as the Braemar Gathering, the world’s most famous highland games, a helicopter trip to the Isle of Skye, meeting an astronomer in the Cairngorms National Park and learning about the stars in the northernmost Dark Sky Park. Guests can also seek out organic ingredients for cocktails and garnishes with a local wild food forager, where the hotel’s chef will incorporate them into a delicious evening meal.
Destination Experience in Iceland, 9-13 September 2023
Pelorus hosts will introduce them to the natural wonders and adventures Iceland offers. Guests will have the chance to fly by helicopter to one of the world’s most impressive hotels. The luxurious property is a grass-roofed 13-room retreat at Deplar Farm on the northern Troll Peninsula. Upon arrival, guests can hike mountains and volcanoes, cycle through extensive nature trails, take a helicopter ride to Reykjavik, and even experience the natural world through horseback tours. After reconnecting with nature, the hotel provides a wellness treatment centre along with yoga practices.
Sustainability
Sustainability is key for both brands as the Pelorus Foundation’s Climate Investment Fund collaborates with sustainable partners worldwide. A fleet of up to six ships will be launched from 2023 to 2028. Explora Journey’s fleet will feature the latest selective catalytic reduction technology, enabling the reduction of nitrogen oxide emissions by 90 percent, equipped with shore power plug-in connectivity with underwater noise management systems to help protect marine life. All six vessels will also have a comprehensive range of onboard energy-efficient equipment to optimize engines to further reduce emissions.
The Pelorus experiences in Scotland and Iceland can now be booked via Travel Advisors in the Explora Journeys Experience Centre or an Explora Journeys Ambassador.
