On Tuesday 14 & Wednesday 15 May, some of today’s most recognised artists, designers, and celebrity talent gathered to celebrate a series of private events and view the highly anticipated exhibition Fragile Beauty: Photographs from the Sir Elton John and David Furnish Collection in partnership with Gucci at the V&A.

Opening the doors to the largest temporary exhibition of 20th & 21st Century photography to date at the V&A, guests including; Sir Elton John, David Furnish, Omari Douglas, Nick Grimshaw, Munroe Bergdorf, Justine Simons OBE and Raven Smith, alongside members of Home House were joined by some other renowned industry figures, as well as close friends of Sir Elton John and David Furnish, to support and celebrate this spectacular display of iconic images across subjects such as fashion, celebrity, reportage and the male body.
Catering and Entertainment at Fragile Beauty
Guests during the Private View of Fragile Beauty on Wednesday 15 May, which was held within the V&A’s Grand Entrance, dined on delicious, seasonal canapés prepared by esteemed caterers The Last Supper. This included delicious Carrot Tartare Date Molasses, ‘Crab Waffle’ Crab Beurre Noisette Buckwheat Waffles and Beef Carpaccio Umeboshi with Miso and a delightful Charcoal Tuille. Guests accompanied their food with either Ca’ del Bosco Franciacorta Cuvée Prestige Edizione 46 or a refreshing cocktail of ‘Lemongrass Le Fizz’.

Entertainment on the evening was provided by the renowned, London-based DJ Fat Tony.

Prior to the event this evening, earlier in the week on Tuesday 14 May, the V&A also hosted an intimate dinner with Sir Elton John and David Furnish. Inviting close, personal friends, family, esteemed colleagues and other industry professionals, the group dined on delicious cuisine ahead of the exhibition launch; guests in attendance at the dinner were: Sir Paul McCartney, Stella McCartney, Mary McCartney, Tracey Emin and Russell Tovey.
Opening to the public on 18 May 2024 and closing 5 January 2025, this major new exhibition will showcase 300 rare prints from 140 photographs from John and Furnish’s personal collection. Adults are £20 per ticket, student and under-26 tickets are £13.
