Harrods’ The Georgian, the iconic restaurant, is set to re-open its doors on 4 November 2024, following a lavish refurbishment. First established in 1911, The Georgian has long been a cornerstone of London’s dining scene, hosting everyone from British royalty to Hollywood celebrities. With its rich history and impeccable reputation, the re-imagined restaurant will once again offer a quintessentially British dining experience, blending historic charm with modern sophistication. Catering to both local patrons and international visitors, The Georgian’s revitalised menu promises to deliver two distinct offerings from day to evening, with a theatrical afternoon tea that transcends into an after-dark dining experience led by celebrated pie connoisseur Calum Franklin, renowned for his exquisite pastry creations. Together, these elements redefine British elegance and tradition in every bite.
Maintaining the Heritage & Glamour
A timeless dining destination since 1911, The Georgian has long been a symbol of London’s rich cultural and culinary heritage. Situated on the fourth floor of the iconic department store, Harrods’ The Georgian has hosted royalty, celebrities, and the upper echelons of society, offering an unparalleled dining experience steeped in British tradition. The room itself, with its Art Deco architecture, has always been a marvel of elegance and sophistication. Now, following an extensive redevelopment, The Georgian is poised to make its grand return with a new era of style and opulence, led by the world-renowned David Collins Studio in collaboration with Harrods’ in-house development team.

Spanning 10,333 square feet, the redesigned restaurant will preserve much of the room’s historic grandeur, enhancing its Art Deco features while introducing modern touches of glamour and comfort. The seating area will accommodate up to 160, including the lavish outdoor Georgian terrace, where gilded detailing complements the lush surroundings. Inside, 25 chandeliers will provide a fairytale-like atmosphere, casting a soft, romantic glow over the dining space. Beyond the architectural splendour, the ambience will be enriched by a carefully curated entertainment programme. A central piano will offer a graceful accompaniment during afternoon tea, while the musical repertoire will evolve into the evening, reflecting the Jazz Age of the 1920s—a nod to the room’s storied past. With this harmonious blend of tradition and modern luxury, the new Georgian promises to be a striking revival of British dining at its finest.
The Afternoon Tea Menu
The Georgian’s Afternoon Tea menu will pay homage to Harrods’ deep-rooted legacy as a tea merchant, a tradition that dates back to 1849. Under the expertise of highly trained tea sommeliers, diners will have the opportunity to indulge in custom blends, reflecting Harrods’ mastery of the tea experience. At the heart of this service is Executive Pastry Chef Markus Bohr and his in-house pâtisserie team, who will craft an afternoon tea rooted in theatricality, eccentricity, and creativity. The seasonal menu will offer a fresh take on British classics, such as the elegant English cucumber, cream cheese, mint, and pink pepper on white pain de mie, and a Confit duck sandwich with orange marmalade on tomato bread. These savoury delights will be followed by exquisite pâtisserie, including Pistachio, pear, and cinnamon sablé Bréton, a decadent Black Forest gâteau, and a stunning Blackberry tart featuring blackberry and lime curd, blackberry gel, and fresh blackberries. Promising to be a one-of-a-kind afternoon tea experience in London, The Georgian’s offering will embody the perfect fusion of history, flavour, and modern artistry.
