evian® have celebrated the return of The Championships, Wimbledon in true sustainable style incorporating an annual community ticket pledge, fashion, art and more. The VIP Suite at Wimbledon 2021 has been certified as the first ever carbon neutral hospitality suite by The Carbon Trust.
The brand has been working for over 25 years to preserve natural surroundings of the source, in an effort to preserve evian natural mineral water’s exceptional quality for generations to come. The VIP Suite will welcome the likes of Anne-Marie, RAYE, Romeo Beckham and many more.
A Wimbledon First – evian’s carbon neutral VIP Suite
The first ever hospitality suite at The Championships, Wimbledon to be certified carbon neutral by the Carbon Trust, the suite matches the commitment of The All England Lawn Tennis Club to achieve net zero for its operational emissions and to have a positive environmental impact by 2030.
For those in the evian VIP Suite, the latest evian innovation, (re)new, is innovative water dispenser, providing the unique purity of evian natural mineral water with a 60% reduction in plastic packaging. The collapsible 5L ‘bubble’, sitting atop a beautiful contemporary base, is made of 100% recycled plastic: reducing carbon emissions and keeping virgin plastic out of nature and within the economy, thus contributing to the brand’s 2025 circularity commitment. The collapsible ‘bubble’ takes on a new shape after each use, manifesting an ever-evolving sculpture too.
A focus on sustainability
As well as the VIP Suite at Wimbledon, evian has been certified carbon neutral to the internationally recognised PAS 2060 standard by the Carbon Trust. Since 2020, evian recertifies every year to maintain its carbon neutral status.
All evian bottles at The Championships will be made from 100% recycled plastic, following a successful pilot within the grounds of Wimbledon in 2019. This year, evian is looking beyond the gates of the event itself, recognising the challenge of recycling on-the-go. The brand is partnering with award-winning environmental charity HUBBUB, local environmental charity Sustainable Merton and national plastics recycling charity RECOUP, to introduce #InTheLoop; an initiative aiming to improve recycling rates. 50 colourful new recycling bins will be installed throughout Wimbledon town centre, making it easier for people to recycle empty plastic bottles and cans when out and about. evian will also replace its logo on the player’s bottles with ‘We Recycle’ to promote recycling behaviour.
evian will be partnering locally with Sustainable Merton and Hubbub to run ‘The Recycler’ where you can exchange plastic bottles and cans for exciting treats to inspire people to dispose of their recyclable items in the right (and fun) way. ‘The Recycler’ will also kickstart evian employees’ involvement as ‘Roaming Recyclers’, where they will be doing their bit to support the local area with litter picks in the park and areas surrounding The Championships.
Honouring the community
evian will honour people within the community each year going forward through a dedicated day at its VIP hospitality suite, to continue to show thanks to those that contribute to our society. Youth Champions will be the next group to be celebrated during Wimbledon 2022, with evian calling on the nation to submit nominations via Instagram @evianwater.
Fashion and Art evian style
evian is encouraging its VIP guests in the Suite at Wimbledon 2021 to follow the dress code: ‘Smart + Eco-Conscious.’ Celebrities including Anne-Marie, RAYE and many more recycled their favourite looks and wore outfits made from recycled materials or from their favourite sustainable designers.
evian is partnering with renowned London Artist and Designer, Yinka Ilori, whose uplifting quotes and joyful patterns have brightened up London neighbourhoods and even graced the BRITs. Yinka will create a colourful and inspiring custom artwork within the evian VIP Suite, encompassing the brand’s return to The Championships and commitment to the community.
To further highlight its appreciation of Youth Champions, evian will be donating the artwork to a youth organisation of Yinka’s choice. Yinka’s work will be complemented by a design refresh of the vibrant evian VIP Suite to bring the brand’s pristine Alpine purity and sustainability initiatives to life by long-standing designer for evian, Matt Gates.
