On a very unassuming street in east London sits the nhow London, one of the Spanish brand’s newest properties.
While the exterior is sleek and discreet – inside it is anything but. It’s pleasingly mad. You’re almost bonked in the face with London art, music and culture. From the Big Ben rocket in the foyer to the London Eye serving up donuts, it’s brilliantly fun. Kids will love it too.
Aesthetic
Each hotel across the nhow portfolio is very “lifestyle” and the theme of the London one is playful, modern and just a touch irreverent. It was designed by James Soane, described as an “agile” architect and it’s so Instagrammable it hurts.

nhow London has 190 rooms and as you check in you’re greeted by a row of jackets before a sexy lift whooshes you to whatever punk-themed room you’ll be staying in.
We were in the top floor penthouse, a massive space awash fabulous details. From the Wimbledon-themed grass carpet to the gold and marble bathroom to the eight-person dining table, it feels like you need to have a party there. It also has floor to ceiling windows jutting out over the capital – perfect for more posing.

Dining
After much mincing around the penthouse it was time to sample nhow’s food and drink. Set around the bright yellow central bar, the restaurant is casual and fun – as is the menu. Think raclette burgers, octopus carpaccio and giant calzones. The cocktails were buzzing, too – plenty of tequila sunrises were had. The vibe is late-night and naughty and it is easy indeed to wile the night away there.

Breakfast was extraordinary – a colourful extravaganza of waffles, donuts and cakes as well as the usual hot menu and all the staff are charming.
Other stuff
If you fancy it, there is brand-new gym as well as electric bikes for hire. The nhow has also teamed up with nearby Sadler’s Wells theatre so guests can get discounted tickets. Furry friends are welcome too and for the month of April the hotel is offering free pet stays to tie in with National Pet Month. Dog-friendly rooms offer posh beds, chew toys and Pooch & Mutt dog food, as well as in-room water bowls. The normal charge for a pet is £35 per night.

If you’re looking for something understated and austere – move along. The nhow is a vigorous nod to the inimitable character and culture of London – a true celebration. Rooms start at a reasonable £179 per night and include all the extras like a robes, espresso machines and top-of-the range showers.
It’s a real rock-star experience.
