Pelorus and OceanSky Cruises have come together in partnership to bring in a brand-new age of no footprint voyages, exemplifying travel and exploration in a completely original and innovative way that’s not been seen before. This new experience focuses on sustainability and aims to unravel access to some of the most remote and preserved corners of the world. With the first flights to be launched in 2024, this is definitely something to look forward to and add to your holiday bucket list.

The Airship is a change maker in aviation as it brings a niche form of travel to the industry with a modern hybrid aircraft that has been made with lighter than air technology. As part of the collaboration between Pelorus and OceanSky Cruises, Pelorus will provide ample research, planning and logistics to help build bespoke private experiences pre-, post- and on board OceanSky Cruises Airship. Modern explorers will feel the ultimate experience from food and beverages to accommodation being seamlessly created and blended within their journey catered to specific locations.
Inside the Airship
The interiors boast a warm and inviting seating area with an extensive bar and sofa seating for guests to sit back and enjoy with a glass of their favourite drink. The monochromatic white brightens the ship and the extensive large glass windows offer stunning panoramic views of the world beneath your airship (a treat from your standard airplane window). Apart from the communal areas, the Airship has 8 cabins for guests to sleep in before they land and embark on their adventure ahead. Each room has been designed with wide glass windows showcasing the sky by day and night (enjoy stargazing as you fall asleep).
The First Voyage
OceanSky Cruises Airship will embark on its first experiential journey in 2024 to the North Pole. The voyage will begin from Longyearbyen, Svalbard to the North Pole with Robert Swan (Arctic Explorer and the first person to reach the North and South Pole by foot). As you get situated in one of the eight onboard cabins, the next few hours of the trip will focus on taking in the extensive diverse but fragile arctic ecosystems and numerous flora and fauna, from polar bears, walruses, snow foxes, reindeer herds and more amongst the national parks and nature reserves covering the island.
During the evening, you’ll enjoy a brilliant cocktail hour, exquisite dinner and not forgetting a briefing for the day ahead – a fun filled evening waiting to be enjoyed. As night settles and you retire to your cabins, enjoy night-time views and possible whales splashing along the glacial coastlines. In the morning you’ll land in the Arctic and enjoy exploring before making your journey back to Svalbard. It may only be 36 hours, but it’s guaranteed to be a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Sustainability
One of the main key focuses is sustainability and OceanSky Cruises and Pelorus both have sustainability at the core of their businesses. Pelorus focuses on sustainable tourism with minimal impact to the world whilst creating unforgettable tailored experiences, whilst OceanSky Cruises focuses on using cleaner fuels, promoting the use of an alternative aircraft and emphasising quality over quantity – less frequent travel but high-quality experiences. With both OceanSky Cruises and Pelorus’ sustainable efforts combined, they are working towards a greener future whilst offering exclusive experiences.
In a nutshell
One day we may see the democratisation of air travel by airships but for now Pelorus and OceanSky Cruises’ collaboration brings curated experiences for the modern explorer to venture to new destinations and explore the world’s corners. This collaboration is the exciting blend of modern, high-tech, futuristic, and most importantly sustainable.
