From 29 June – 2 July 2022, you can experience Tokyo’s new wave sake scene, with a unique drinking and dining pop-up hosted by Japan’s most cutting-edge sake bar, Twelv. This exclusive pop up forms part of the Summertime Drinking at Pantechnicon celebration, which runs throughout June to September. Pantechnicon has invited the world’s best Japanese and Nordic bars, mixologists and drinks specialists to host a series of pop ups and experiences throughout the summer.
Established in 2016, Twelv. is one of Tokyo’s most upscale and expertly curated sake bars, and is at the forefront of the city’s progressive drinks culture. Open by invitation only, it presents biodynamic and craft sakes from across Japan in a beautiful minimalist interior by fashion-savvy creatives who’ve worked with Prada and Alexander Wang. For four nights only, Twelv.’s founder and head sake curator, Norihiro Tacamizuma will personally present his selection of four rare sakes from across Japan, including an exclusive Twelv. bottling. The sake selection will include:
- Special AFS – Kidoizumi Shuzo (Chiba)
- Ine Mankai Rose – Mukai Shuzo (Kyoto)
- Te To Te – Tsuchida Shuzo (Gunma)
- Niwa no Uguisu Doburoku – Yamaguchi Shuzo (Fukuoka)
Refined Omakase food pairings will match each sake, with dishes curated by Pantechnicon’s executive head chef, Chris Golding.
Taking place in Studio at Pantechnicon, a purpose-built canvas draped space will be constructed to seat 18 people each evening. This will be intricately designed using influences from Japanese craftsmanship, matching Twelv.’s own minimalist style. Sake will be served in KIKINO glasses by Sugahara and all Japanese tableware and glassware used in service will be available to buy in Studio at Pantechnicon.
The Pantechnicon name comes from the building, a stunning Grade-II listed landmark on Motcomb Street, SW1, which was London’s original international arts, crafts and interiors bazaar. Today this theme continues with a focus on creativity and craftsmanship with six floors divided into eight spaces inspired by the Nordics & Japan.
Tickets for the Twelv. Experience are £150.00 per person (including VAT/service charges).
