Dr Manrina Rhode, the Queen of Veneers, is one of the world’s leading cosmetic dentists with the ethos of creating natural beautiful smiles. She is the founder and CEO of the DRMR Clinic and the DRMR Academy, where she has been perfecting and innovating in the world of cosmetic dentistry.
Dr Rhode’s approach is rooted in meticulous craftsmanship and advanced technology; such as minimally invasive veneer applications and Waterlase laser. As she describes, the methods are like comparing laser eye surgery to traditional eye surgery, there is no going back once you’ve experienced the advanced laser technology.
With over 23 years of experience perfecting a methodology to create beautiful veneers with minimal tooth preparation, Dr Rhode has a portfolio of over 14,000 successfully completed DRMR veneers. However, the DRMR Clinic not only focuses on cosmetic and restorative dentistry but also offers a range of facial aesthetics for the whole face, including Botox, fillers, and advanced skin treatments. Additionally, through the DRMR Academy, Dr Rhode shares her knowledge and expertise with professionals worldwide.
We caught up with Dr Manrina for a chat and to learn more about DRMR Clinic.

How did it all start?
DRMR Clinic was a vision I had for nearly 20 years before it came to life. The dream began in my mid-20s, but it wasn’t until my 40s that I felt ready to bring my vision to reality.
It took time to refine exactly what I wanted to create, gathering inspiration and ideas from my journey as a cosmetic dentist. When I started building DRMR, I had a clear vision of how I wanted every detail to look and feel, from luxurious design elements to innovative patient experiences.
I was incredibly specific in my choices, like importing voice-activated blinds from the United States after seeing a privacy mode feature in a Marvel film. I wanted that same experience for my patients, where luxury meets cutting-edge technology. I designed a mirror on wheels, for example, so that patients wouldn’t need to hold a mirror up to their faces. Instead, they could have a hands-free experience while seeing their new smiles.
Every detail, including the floor-to-ceiling gold sink in my surgery, hand-drawn by me and brought to life with Italian-imported Gessi taps and ceiling-integrated plumbing, was about creating an elevated and unique environment. From functionality to aesthetics, DRMR Clinic is a manifestation of my passion for delivering the highest level of care in an environment that inspires trust, luxury, and comfort.

You are one of the world’s top cosmetic dentists. Tell us about the journey that you took to get there.
It is an accolade I’m incredibly proud of. The journey to becoming one of the world’s leading cosmetic dentists has been filled with hard work, perseverance, and a commitment to excellence every step of the way.
When people ask “How did you become a famous dentist?” it always makes me smile. The truth is, luck has very little to do with it. Instead, it’s been about years of consistent effort, constantly pushing boundaries, and finding ways to innovate within my field.
A defining moment in my career was winning the ‘Dentist of the Year’ award. I’ve spent over 20 years in this field, watching many deserving dentists take home that honour. Finally receiving it myself was a powerful reminder that dedication and consistency always win. It felt like the ultimate acknowledgment of the countless hours, challenges, and passion I’ve poured into my work.
The truth is, my journey has involved pushing myself well beyond the clinical chair. I’ve travelled the world, learning from renowned dental leaders, and bringing cutting-edge technologies back to the UK. My goal has always been to provide my patients with the best treatments available, delivered in a way that is both predictable and comfortable.
A prime example of this is our use of the Waterlase laser at DRMR Clinic. There are only a select number of these lasers in the UK, but it’s such a revolutionary tool that I believe, in the next 10 to 20 years, dentists will wonder how they ever worked without it.
For instance, when it comes to veneer removal, to replace old veneers, traditional methods often involve drilling and invasive techniques. However, with the Waterlase, we can simply wave the laser over the veneer, allowing the veneer to come off naturally with no damage to the underlying tooth. It’s like comparing laser eye surgery to traditional eye surgery, there’s no going back once you’ve experienced the advanced laser technology.
The same goes for surgical gum lifts. What used to be an invasive procedure is now quick, easy, and requires minimal recovery time. Many of my patients can go straight back to work after their treatment.
Staying at the forefront of technology requires a willingness to learn, an open mind, and an unwavering dedication to providing the best for my patients. I make learning from the best a priority, and now through the DRMR Academy, I’m in a position to educate others, sharing the knowledge and techniques I’ve acquired over my career.
My philosophy is simple: There is always something to learn, and by continually evolving and innovating, I can ensure that my patients and mentees receive the highest standards of care and education.

You are known as the queen of veneers. What is the secret to that natural look?
Thank you! Being called the “Queen of Veneers” is truly an honour. My dogma at DRMR Clinic is to create natural-looking veneers that enhance my patients’ smiles without making them look overdone or artificial.
When designing a smile, my goal is for my patients to look like the best version of themselves. I want them to walk into any room with confidence, knowing they have the most beautiful smile there, but without it being obvious that they’ve had dental work done. It’s about creating that “wow” factor where people notice a great smile, not great veneers.
Achieving a natural look is much more challenging than creating a perfect, yet fake smile. That’s why we still take a traditional approach at DRMR Clinic. While many clinics have moved to printed veneers, we remain old school in the best way possible.
I’ve worked with my master ceramist, Nicky, for over 22 years, and together, we’ve created over 14,000 veneers. Each veneer is handcrafted using 30 different shades within a single tooth, adding translucency, characterisation, and subtle undulations to perfectly mimic nature.
Every veneer is a work of art, carefully crafted to reflect light and show natural imperfections, just like real teeth. This attention to detail and craftsmanship sets our work apart and it’s why our patients leave with elegant and authentic smiles that light up a room, without looking “done”.
The secret is mainly about listening to the patient, understanding their vision, and combining that with expert technique and artistry to achieve truly natural results.

What is the difference between getting veneers in somewhere like DRMR Clinic vs going to Turkey?
There is a world of difference; the approach, quality, and outcome are almost incomparable. At DRMR Clinic, we are deeply committed to conservative dentistry, as we make every possible effort to preserve your natural teeth. The less we remove, the healthier and stronger your teeth remain over time, which is vital for long-term oral health.
I’ve spent my 23-year career perfecting a methodology that allows us to create beautiful veneers with minimal tooth preparation. Dentists from all over the world attend our DRMR Academy to learn this specialised technique, ensuring our patients receive the best care with the least risk.
When you visit clinics abroad, particularly those offering super-low prices, often the approach is one-size-fits-all. I want to be clear: not all dentists in Turkey or abroad are the same, and there are certainly good clinicians everywhere. However, the main focus of many of these budget clinics is on speed and volume, not personalisation and care.
The “Turkey Teeth” phenomenon often involves aggressive tooth preparation, where teeth are filed down to pegs to make room for bulkier, mass-produced veneers. This method may offer a quick fix, but it can compromise tooth health and lead to problems in the future.
At DRMR, we use contact lens veneers. They are ultra-thin, handcrafted by our master ceramist, and custom-made for each patient. These veneers sit gently on the surface of the tooth, preserving the natural tooth structure underneath. This means that should you ever wish to change or remove them, your natural teeth remain intact and healthy.
Our goal is to create smiles that look natural, feel comfortable, and last for decades, all while maintaining the integrity of your natural teeth. It’s a patient-first approach focused on longevity, health, and beauty.

Why is this important?
When it comes to long-term oral health, maintaining your natural mouth architecture is crucial. By preserving your natural teeth, you minimise risks such as tooth decay, gum disease, and periodontal issues.
Our careful approach ensures that the gums sit naturally over the veneers, creating a seamless transition without ledges where plaque, bacteria, and food particles could accumulate. This helps to prevent gum disease and maintain excellent oral hygiene.
Moreover, our veneers typically last around 20 years. When it’s time to refresh your smile, we can easily and safely remove the old veneers using our Waterlase laser technology, ensuring no damage to the natural tooth underneath. This gentle approach means there is no risk to your tooth health, even when replacing veneers over your lifetime.
In contrast, clinics offering low-cost treatments may use a crown approach, which involves aggressively cutting the tooth to pegs. This can lead to serious complications, including tooth loss, root damage, and long-term dental issues that require complex treatments in the future.
We are also careful with the brand of porcelain we use. We make EMAX veneers, which we believe to be the most natural-looking and mimic nature well. Often, these budget clinics use Zirconia to make ceramics which isn’t as attractive and is very difficult to replace when the time comes.
Our priority at DRMR Clinic is to offer beautiful, natural smiles with an emphasis on health, longevity, and safety. When you choose DRMR, you’re investing in a smile that not only looks incredible but also supports your oral health for decades to come.

How do you make teeth look natural? What is the process?
At DRMR Clinic, creating natural-looking ceramics is our speciality. The secret lies in mimicking nature, we craft perfect smiles that aren’t too perfect. The goal is to add subtle characterisations so no one can tell they’re not your natural teeth.
Our approach is to ensure that our smiles are beautifully balanced, with tiny alterations that make them look authentic. Whether it’s a slight variation in translucency, a tiny undulation, or the softness of the edges, we incorporate natural elements that set our work apart.
Unlike many clinics that rely on machine-printed veneers, we believe in the artistry of handcrafting. Our master ceramist, with whom I’ve collaborated for over 22 years, handcrafts each veneer using Emax porcelain, which is considered the gold standard in dental ceramics. She uses 30 different shades in every tooth, adding layers of translucency, delicate colour gradients, and individualised details perfectly replicating a natural tooth.
Imagine the difference between a mass-produced table from Ikea and a hand-carved wooden masterpiece. Both might serve the same purpose, but one has soul, character, and lasting beauty, while the other feels standard and lifeless. The same principle applies to smile design.
A printed veneer can often look flat, artificial, and identical to every other smile produced by the same machine. Our handcrafted ceramics, on the other hand, are one-of-a-kind, bespoke creations that harmonise with your facial features, offering a naturally radiant smile that enhances your unique beauty.
By using Emax porcelain, we ensure our veneers are not only visually stunning but also strong, durable, and biocompatible. They seamlessly integrate with your natural teeth, ensuring that your gums and overall oral health are well-preserved.
When you choose DRMR, you’re choosing artistry, precision, and a smile that feels like it’s always been yours.

What other treatments do you offer at the DRMR clinic?
At DRMR Clinic, our approach goes far beyond just creating beautiful smiles. When I envisioned DRMR, I wanted it to be a space where patients could look and feel their best; not just through dental treatments but with a holistic approach to their overall well-being.
While most patients initially visit us for cosmetic dentistry, every consultation includes a full-face assessment. Our “facially driven dental design” ensures that your smile complements your facial features. At the same time, our “personality-driven dental design” focuses on getting to know you to create a truly personalised result. This level of attention means we offer more than just dental services; we provide a complete transformation.
In addition to cosmetic and restorative dentistry, we offer a range of treatments for the whole face. Our in-house facial aesthetician provides treatments like Botox, fillers, and advanced skin treatments. For those looking beyond, we collaborate closely with trusted plastic surgeons and hair transplant specialists, ensuring our patients receive the highest quality care in every aspect.
Our bespoke skincare line, developed over a decade ago, was born from my desire to improve what was available on the market. I wanted products that I could trust for my own skin, and I’m proud to share these optimised formulations with our patients at DRMR Clinic. We also offer a world-class whitening product that we absolutely believe is the best on the market, along with our partnership with Dental Pod to help patients keep their whitening trays and night guards impeccably clean.
We also offer DNA testing to connect oral health with overall wellness, identifying potential health risks and optimising nutrition through tailored meal plans. Our in-house dietitian and personal trainer further support our patients’ journeys, helping them build strength, boost confidence, and feel their utter best.
At DRMR, our mission is not just about changing smiles, it’s about changing lives. We integrate cutting-edge technology, artistry, and a holistic approach to create results that are not only aesthetically beautiful but contribute to a patient’s overall health and happiness.

Tell us about the DRMR Academy and the work that you do?
At DRMR, we proudly operate our clinic and product line along with the DRMR Academy, where I serve as CEO. The Academy is an extension of my vision to elevate the standard of cosmetic dentistry worldwide and support fellow dentists in becoming the best in their field.
Cosmetic dentistry is not something traditionally taught in dental school, and there’s a real gap in education when it comes to achieving exceptional natural-looking results ethically and effectively. Many dentists are passionate about offering smile transformations but may not have the structured guidance to do so with precision and integrity. That’s where the DRMR Academy steps in.
Our Academy offers a mix of face-to-face courses and a comprehensive library of online courses, designed to cover everything from advanced veneer techniques to patient communication strategies. One of our flagship offerings is the DRMR Mentorship Programme, where I mentor dentists from around the globe. The programme offers direct access to me, providing clinical support, guidance on complex cases and business development strategies.
Seeing our mentees’ incredible growth and success is one of the most rewarding aspects of my career. Whether they’re new to cosmetic dentistry or experienced professionals looking to refine their skills, my goal is to inspire confidence, promote ethical practice, and ultimately help them create life-changing results for their own patients.

What is next for you?
I genuinely believe I’m only at about 10% of what I’m capable of achieving professionally, and that excites me. The journey so far has been incredible, but there’s so much more I want to do. Whether it’s expanding the DRMR brand, innovating new products, enhancing our educational offerings at the DRMR Academy or continuing to raise the bar for cosmetic dentistry globally, I’m ready to push forward with full force.
I thrive on growth, both personally and professionally. I’m committed to exploring every opportunity that allows me to make a meaningful impact on my patients, my mentees, and the wider industry. So, stay tuned, there’s a lot more to come!
