A new modern Indian dining experience has opened, showcasing flavours across Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and the Punjab regions. Named after kachori, a pillowy fried dough stuffed with sweet and spicy filling, the restaurant stays true to Indian street food traditions on its menu with a contemporary twist.

Kachori was founded by Sorowar Khan, founder of the popular Borough-based restaurant Mango, who collaborated with hospitality consultant and concept creator Humayun Hussain. After travelling around the regions of India, esteemed ex-Benares Executive Chef and ex-Gymkhana Head Chef Brinder Narula runs their traditional Indian kitchen.
Kachori is, of course, the menu’s highlight, including an assortment of flavours like the Bikaneri Raj Kachori, a puffed lentil and wheat sphere, sprouted moong, sweet potatoes, yoghurt, tamarind, pomegranate, sunflower seeds, or as the restaurant’s signature version, Truffle and Matar ki Kachori, green peas and black truffle stuffed Kachori, black chickpeas and carrots.

The menu definitely nods to street food, such as a dal chilli taco made with crispy lentil crepes and a coconut chutney. There is a whole pao burger section to the menu, offering belters such as the Chicken Burger with a crunchy buttermilk chicken fillet on a brioche bun with mango chutney, lettuce, coleslaw, tomatoes and masala chips. The tandoori menu offers beautiful vegetables, meat, game and fish, like the Sarson Sea Bream or the Paneer ke Sooley: chargrilled paneer tikka.
The bigger plates include Malay Meen cod loin and the Kerala Beef Chilli Ulathu with slow-cooked beef. There are some brilliant ingredients on offer and you can really feel the experience in the kitchen with so much depth of flavour. Another must try are the naan chips – strips of naan bread sprinkled with Indian spices. So simple yet so clever.

The 132-seat dining area spans indoors and outdoors, with a bar serving cocktails, mocktails, regional beers, wines and spirits. Kachori will be open for breakfast dining on weekdays, serving Indian and non-Indian cuisine and the upcoming Sunday Roast lunches later in the summer.
