The Danish have given the world some wornderful things – LEGO, licorice, Carlsberg and now…. AMAZING STEAK. At KöD Soho—pronounced like ‘cool’ in Danish and meaning meat—you’ll enjoy the finest steaks paired with delicious sides and a selection of premium drinks, all in a welcoming, stylish setting that’ll keep you coming back.
Owned by DiningSix, KöD Soho is the group’s second London launch by Morten Ortwed following the successful opening of KöD City London, becoming the eighth branch under this brand name, with locations across Denmark and Norway. Tucked down at St Anne’s Court, the moment you step inside KöD Soho, you’ll notice how tranquil the restaurant is. There is a fun and relaxed vibe with super friendly front-of-house staff that are empowered and easygoing.

Morten’s wife Catrine also joined the management team and played a key role in designing the restaurant’s decor, which includes a chic marble bar with upholstered seats, sophisticated dark wood, lamp-lit tables, muted tiled floors, and lush green foliage all around. This Danish spirit of collaboration extends to the restaurant’s overall atmosphere, fostering a friendly vibe thanks to the typical flat working hierarchy in Denmark.

The Steaks
Cooked over a grill, brushed with rosemary and garlic butter, then garnished with sea salt and fresh herbs, all of KöD’s steaks are served like that—the craft truly lies in the type of meat you choose.
From Uruguay, KöD’s grain-fed fillet steaks are lean for those who don’t like too much fat. Aged for over 35 days, the meat turns extra tender and silky, offering a delicate texture with every bite. You may opt for the 200g cut, or for more of a sharing option, the 450g Chateaubriand is a great choice.
Marbled and extra flavourful, KöD Soho sources its ribeye cuts locally from England, with the meat aged using Himalayan salt. A more premium option is the 35-day-cured AU ribeye from Australia, renowned for producing some of the world’s highest quality red meat.

For those who like their meat firm but still juicy, order the striploin, available in cuts from both Scotland and Australia. And if you want to experience the world’s most luxurious meat cut, choose the Japan Wagyu Grade A4 “Snowbeef” from the Wagyu Striploin section. This Wagyu was SO tender and so full of flavour. It was cooked lovingly and was just right.
To complement your steak, the restaurant’s sauce selection features a variety of different flavours made with top-notch ingredients. Try the Homemade Warm Béarnaise, a creamy blend of clarified butter and fresh tarragon. For a touch of sweetness, the Signature Port Glaze offers a rich, balanced flavour. The Madagascar Pepper Sauce adds a spicy kick with whole peppercorns and a creamy finish. Finally, the Chimichurri, an Argentinian classic, combines parsley, oregano, garlic and wine vinegar—so fresh.
KöD Soho’s Sides and Starters
You can’t go without ordering the side dishes, particularly the fries, a second KöD speciality alongside the steaks. Crispy and well-seasoned, the Steak Fries à la KöD are garnished with fresh thyme and sea salt—you can even swap them for sweet potato fries. For those who love a bit of spice, get the Chilli-Garlic Fries, or, for an aromatic touch, the crispy fries with rich truffle and tarragon.
Other side dishes include butter-sautéed mushrooms with pickled pearl onions and thyme, or the fried corn ribs tossed in a homemade spice, parsley & garlic-miso butter. A classic steak side dish, the mashed potatoes are topped with a smoked bacon and onion compote, sautéed in wagyu fat and butter.
But before enjoying your main dish, the starters section includes many enticing dishes. Drizzled in rich browned butter cream, the Beef Carpaccio features thinly-sliced prime British feed topped with old Winchester cheese, croutons, and pickled pearl onion. Our favourite was a steak tartare – one of the best we have tried this year. So tender and with a depth of flavour that is hard to find with raw meat. Really brilliant.
From the sea, KöD’s prawns get marinated in a garlic-parsley mixture, served next to a spicy tomato salsa with horseradish and pea shoots. Or you can get the Langoustine tortellini cooked in a herb oil and rich langoustine broth. For a lighter option, the Fresh Burrata and Rosemary Tomato will surely delight you with its pickled baked tomatoes, balsamic glaze, and fresh basil—all topped with smoked salt and chive oil.

Steak Alternatives
While you’ll be missing out on not trying the steaks, KöD Soho also offers a selection of alternatives. Vegetarians can enjoy the Grilled Cauliflower Steak, combining rose harissa, hummus, pomegranate, feta cheese, and chimichurri. For those in the mood for a burger, the KöD Bacon Cheeseburger is a hearty choice, featuring special Danish bacon and served with chilli garlic fries. Not just a starter, you can even have the KöD Tartare as a Main Course served with Steak Fries à la KöD.
White meat dishes include the Pan-Roasted Salmon with chimichurri and a fennel & herb salad, or the Crispy Breaded Chicken, cooked with lemon and rosemary, then finished with truffle and tarragon butter.
Desserts
After a big, hearty feast, you may want to try some of KöD’s Soho’s fresh and light desserts. Sweet and fruity, the strawberry parfait comes with vanilla cream, summer berries, and crumble—it will satisfy your sweet cravings without being too heavy. For a classic choice, the vanilla crème brûlée, paired with raspberry sorbet, is always a winner. We tried the fried apple pie to share with vanilla ice cream.
Wines and Cocktails
At KöD Soho, wine lovers will find a carefully curated selection sourced from Italy, France, the USA, Chile, and many more countries. In fact, for those seeking an extra-exclusive glass, the restaurant offers a separate fine wine list with a collection of premium bottles, featuring rare and highly rated options.
As for the cocktails, KöD Soho’s list goes on with a creative mix of different flavours. Light and refreshing, Lillet Spritz comes with grapefruit soda and lime for a zesty kick. A more tropical and fruity mix is Jungle Drum, blending Havana Club 7-year rum with crème de mure, pineapple, strawberry, and lime. Fans of bourbon will enjoy An Old Fashioned Moment, made with Buffalo Trace, maple syrup, and a hint of orange peel. For something more daring, Desert Flower brings together mezcal, elderflower liquor, Aperol, and strawberry—a smoky-sweet fusion. We invented a cocktail for our dinner – An Aquavit Negroni which worked well so we may hopefully see it on the menu soon!
