Launched in November 2020, Lobos 1707 Mexican tequila was created by actor and creative officer Diego Osorio. After five centuries of cultivation, Lobos 1707 continues the legacy of contributors and crafters from around the world to produce a quality tequila. And now, its growth and evolution continue through celebrity investors such as Lebron James and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Osario’s background in creative arts and design enabled him to create a brand which would encompass unity, legacy, and authenticity. In continuing and sharing the traditional agave-based spirit, Osario has also championed diversity, equity and inclusion in the spirits industry.
We spoke to Diego Osario about the origin of Lobos 1707, its unique qualities, and what’s next.

How did it all start?
Diego Osario: Lobos 1707 was born out of a desire to recreate a centuries-old family recipe, aiming to bring the legacy of the Osorio Tequila back to life.

Tell us about the unique production process and how this reflects in the amazing taste of your expressions?
Diego Osario: Our production process is rooted in tradition yet infused with innovation, resulting in spirits of unparalleled quality and flavour. Starting with the careful selection and cultivation of Blue Weber agave in the nutrient-rich soil of Altos de Jalisco and Espadin agave in the Oaxacan Sierra, our process honours the natural ingredients and terroir of each region. From there, the agaves are harvested by skilled jimadors and undergo meticulous cooking, fermentation, and distillation processes to preserve their unique characteristics. The finishing touch comes from ageing our spirits in Pedro Ximenez sherry barrels, imparting rich flavours of oak, dried fruits, and spices that elevate the taste experience to new heights.
What do you do to support the community when producing your tequila?
Diego Osario: Lobos 1707 is dedicated to supporting the community by sourcing agave sustainably and partnering with local artisans and distilleries in Mexico.
What is the best way to taste great tequila?
Diego Osario: Tasting great tequila is an art form that requires patience, attention to detail, and an appreciation for the nuances of flavour and aroma. To fully experience the complexities of Lobos 1707 spirits, we recommend starting with a clean palate and nosing the spirit to detect its aromatic qualities. Take a small sip and let it linger on your palate, allowing the flavours to unfold gradually. Notice the interplay of sweet, savoury, and spicy notes, as well as the smooth texture and lingering finish that characterize our exceptional spirits.
What do you do at home to train your nose, palate and senses to be the best they can be?
Diego Osario: I don’t know if I would call it training, but I make it a habit to try a lot of different competitors, wines & other spirits, try different food—you could call it indulging, but I like to get an idea of what else is out there.
