A notorious silhouette on London’s Skyline, Jason Atherton’s City Social launches an all new cocktail menu for its panoramic bar, Social 24. The cocktails will and always have been the focus of the establishment, though the new menu will focus itself around utilising innovative ingredients and low waste techniques to create showstopping masterpieces.
Cocktails with a view
Perched on the 24th floor of Tower 42, Social 24 is the ultimate combination of spectacular gastronomy and magnificent views. Brushing shoulders with some of the city’s most famed landmarks, Social 24 is a beautifully elegant yet relaxed bar, characterised by its dimly lit art deco interiors, making for the perfect spot to enjoy drinks and nibbles.
The main attraction
Cocktails have always been the main attraction here, and newly appointed Bar Manager Arsid Kapllanaj, has curated a brand new drinks menu with Davide Gallo and Carmine Agresta combining seasonal ingredients with inventive flavour profiles to create nine signature cocktails.
As they watch the sun go down over the city, guests can sip on a savoury version of a much-loved favourite, the Roquefort Martini with Four Pillars olive leaf gin, a hint of blue cheese, and Cocchi Americano infused with asparagus from the kitchen; or a taste of Mexico with the Saffring Love, featuring saffron-infused Mezcal Amores, homemade pineapple cordial, agave shrub and lime. Or perhaps a MoonWalk, a twist on the classic NY sour with Woodford Reserve, saccharum clementine (clementine peel marinated in sugar to bring out the fragrant oils), lemon, whole milk and aromatised red wine.
The best value luxury cocktails in London?
For the world class quality of cocktails on offer, we think these are some of the very best value luxury cocktails in all of London. Each cocktail is priced with accessibility in mind, ranging from a wallet-friendly £9-12 with proper decent cocktail measures and world class mixology. The Roquefort Martini comes in at £11 and this is a very generous expertly made martini with a high quality gin. A Cuban Old Fashioned will set you back £9 made with mint infused Bacardi White, Frangelico, Cacao Blanc and chocolate bitters.
As well as value, there is an emphasis on sustainability and reducing waste – the menu makes the most of ingredients sourced in-house such as homemade cordials and syrups, and ingredients no longer needed by the City Social kitchen.
Alternative options
If cocktails aren’t your thing, there are plenty of other options. Arsid and his team have worked closely together to ensure the non alcoholic cocktail menu, Social Zero, is just as exciting for the low and no crowd, termed ‘social responsibility’ drinks. From using dehydrated apple peels from the restaurant’s tarte tatin in their Apple Summer Cup with botanical Everleaf Forest, salted caramel, homemade apple cordial and ginger ale to a White Chocolate Passion with white chocolate, passion fruit, mint and apricot soda – the non alcoholic options are just as extravagant.
Also on the menu are suggested Social 24 mixer combinations, beers, a compact wine list and a hefty selection of spirits, including a very healthy English gin collection.
