To relaunch Ron Santiago de Cuba™ 20-Year-Old Extra Añejo Gran Reserva, the prestige rum brand has partnered with global dance icon, Carlos Acosta. At a global celebration in London, the immersive relaunch celebrated Cuba with us being transported to Santiago de Cuba with food by Ruben Acosta, a tasting of the Ron Santiago de Cuba™ 20-Year-Old Extra Añejo Gran Reserva and Cuban dancing.
The luxury rum has been redesigned to reflect the rugged, yet refined, luxury of Cuba. Relaunching this autumn, the rum provides an opportunity to experience one of Cuba’s oldest liquids. The newly designed Ron Santiago de Cuba™ 20-Year-Old Extra Añejo Gran Reserva celebrates the city of Santiago de Cuba, the cradle of Cuban Light Rum; and is a true tribute to the culture of the region, the music of its streets and the exquisite art of Cuban rum making.
The new bottle features screen-printed illustrations celebrating the city of Santiago de Cuba, housed in an intricately designed presentation box inspired by the passion and dedication of the Maestros del Ron Cubano.

Dancing to Perfection
Acosta has collaborated with Ron Santiago de Cuba™ to create a short film, which sees him demonstrate, through dance and spoken word, the affinity between mastering the art of ballet with the art of Cuban rum making.
Born in Havana, Acosta trained at The National Ballet School of Havana in Cuba. After winning a succession of awards, Carlos went on to dance professionally with the world’s most prestigious companies as London’s Royal Ballet became his home. Carlos retired from Classical ballet in 2016, after 28 years, having performed almost every classical role from Spartacus to Romeo. In 2020, Acosta became director of the Birmingham Royal Ballet. Ballet is recognised for its balance and refinement — requiring incredible expertise, commitment and practice, allowing for the perfect synergy with the exceptional art of Cuban rum making.

Celebrating Years of Craft
The Maestros del Ron Cubano have crafted this special rum, harnessing the knowledge, passed from generation to generation since the 18th century, which epitomises the character of the South East of the island, whilst enchanting the palate with its exquisite balanced aromatic profile.
Reflecting the rugged, yet refined luxury of Cuba, the new bottle features screen-printed illustrations depicting the city of Santiago de Cuba, housed in an intricately designed presentation box inspired by the passion and dedication of La Reserva de los Maestros.

What does it taste like?
Carrying a combination of fruit aromas, thanks to the white oak barrels that the rum ages in to enable these aromatic characteristics, Ron Santiago de Cuba™ 20-Year-Old Extra Añejo Gran Reserva feels robust and smooth on the palate, with a harmonious balance between sweet and dry, evoking coffee, cocoa and chocolate. It has a well-evolved finish that fills the palate with notes of dark, rich cacao, coffee and well-integrated oak, ending with spices and caramel.

Best enjoyed as an ‘after-dinner moment’, served neat or over ice to fully appreciate the exquisite aromas, Ron Santiago de Cuba™ 20-Year-Old Extra Añejo Gran Reserva can be paired with dark chocolate or coffee and is recommended served in an Old Fashioned or Cognac glass.
As with all variants in the Ron Santiago de Cuba™ portfolio, the 20-year-old rum abides by stringent Cuban laws and regulations for producing rum, crafted using traditional production methods to ensure the liquid is of the highest quality. The strict regulations surrounding Cuban Rum production and ageing state that if the age of the rum is declared on the bottle, only the youngest rum used in the blend can be noted on the label, adding further credence to this minimum-aged 20-year-old liquid.
