Located on the top floor of Harrods, the partnership between Don Julio and Studio Frantzén brings a unique winter ambiance to the heart of London, capturing the essence of stylish Scandinavian aesthetics and embodying the refined luxury spirit of Don Julio 1942. This experiential and immersive experience includes beautifully warmly lit archways between the trellises, hanging foliage, and winter trees creating the perfect winter hideaway feel.
Celebrating Don Julio 1942
There are six exclusive cocktails created in partnership with Don Julio 1942 to enjoy views of the sweeping city skyline. Don Julio 1942 in conjunction with the talented bar team led by Tomas Karcalik at Studio Frantzén have created delicious cocktails, which embody the unique character and excellence of this hard to find silky-smooth tequila, resulting in an unforgettable adventure in mixology.
Embrace the Christmas spirit with a warm serve of GLÖGG (Don Julio 1942, house made winter spice cordial with apple, cranberry & citrus), or indulge in the delightful sweet and citrus infusion of a POVEL RAMEL (Don Julio 1942, umeshu plum, citrus, grapefruit soda and rose salt). For a Don Julio take on an espresso martini, BATSMAN is the one with Don Julio 1942 tequila, winter spice cordial, espresso coffee, bitters & double cream.
For something more traditional, a take on a margarita arrives in the form of LISTRUSTEN – a blend of Don Julio Blanco tequila, mandarin, mastic, mezcal, citrus & carrot juice. For something a little longer, PIRATE BAY blends Don Julio 1942 tequila, pear & honey, Green Chartreuse & Nordic Soda ginger ale. Our favourite creation – A take on an Old Fashioned was the BAMSEKRAM with Don Julio 1942 tequila, hazelnut, Bullet Rye whiskey, plum, tonka & anise.
What about the food?
Whilst enjoying the rooftop Terrace’s sweeping views over the city, guests can revel in a tantalising culinary experience with a food menu that blends the Michelin Star Chef’s critically acclaimed Nordic gastronomy with Asian influences. The dishes bear all the hallmarks of Bjorn Frantzén’s world-renowned cuisine: understated elegance, bold flavours, and a carefully-honed appreciation of culinary balance.
While sitting in the elegant winter wonderland, begin the meal with fantastic starters like warm laminated milk bread with blond miso butter and borage honey, or chilled crudités with yuzu ranch dressing for a snack. For starters, indulge in tartar of tuna and red deer with vendace roe, wasabi cream, fermented plum and warm ginger butter; Autumn Jerusalem artichoke with dill, shiso and Roscoff onion; or cold-poached lobster with tomato, pink peppercorns, almond, lemon verbena and vanilla. Relish in mouthwatering main dishes such as the Turbot ‘Chef signature’ with butter sauce, anchovy, caviar and dill, or the cannon of lamb with truffle jus, yuzu and saffron.
The bars have a real synergy with the food menu, and result in some stunning mixology. Cocktails and spirits throughout use Nordic ingredients as well as taking influence from the Nordic region.
The Studio Frantzén x Don Julio 1942 winter terrace will be open until January 14th 2024 at Harrods, providing the ultimate backdrop for memorable gatherings over the festive season and unforgettable New Year’s celebrations.
